I like that he pushed Alice into finding her own power within herself. If he hadn't backed her into a proverbial corner and forced her to make a choice while jouer la comédie like a pretentious prig, she wouldn't have come into her own. Speaking of Alice I'm working on a rabbit hole miniature right now, kind of fun to have a look. It's far from done but I've got a good start:
