Becca looked into the barrel of the gun, her heat beating faster.
“You can't be serious,” she whispered.
“But I am. toi got rid of the ruler and ventured to the outside world! toi put us all at risk! And toi have the nerve to call yourself a hero. Treason is your crime. Against the master and us!”
“I never meant to! It wasn't my fault! Nothing is my fault!”
“Pathetic. Begging for your life. The chosen one? Ha! Can't even save herself. And your magic won't work the light infused your senses with a paralyzing gene.”
“So toi fight like a coward?”
Becca heard the click of the gun. She shut her eyes tight, tears appearing in her eyes. I'm so sorry! For everything! Robin...Willow...I l’amour toi both!
“The warrior cries? Fine. Your death shall be pathetic.”
A sudden blast sounded and Becca felt a surge of heat and shattered glass. She opened her eyes to find someone standing between her and the pointed gun. With wings outspread, Becca could see a scythe in one hand. Short dirty blonde hair covered his head. When he spoke, his voice was threatening and dangerous.
“Step away from my lamb!”
“Kai?”
Shallow studied the Angel in front of her.
“You claim she's a lamb? This girl is a serpent! She deserves to die!”
“Release your weapon!”
“What?!”
Kai's scythe moved and a sudden blast of wind and feu poured out of it.
“Release the gun!”
Becca watched the woman's hand light on fire, the gun falling to the floor. Kai grabbed the locket and gun, moving his scythe again. Shallow froze, her body trapped in ice. Becca looked up at her savior, the wings disappearing and his hair turning brown. He kneeled down suivant to her, wiping away the glass shards.
“Are toi alright?” he asked.
“Kai...how'd toi know I was here?”
He smiled.
“I felt your presence. I knew toi were missing cause I overheard four others talking about you.”
“Oh.”
“Relax little lamb. You're sûr, sans danger now.”
“Don't call me that. I'm no lamb.”
“Sparrow then. But that's the last nick-name I change.”
Becca smiled.
“If I could déplacer Kai, I'd hug you.”
“Now's not the time birdie. We must go. While toi looked around, she called in reinforcements. Come. I'll take toi to my place. toi can rest there.”
“Okay. I trust you.”
Kai picked her up in his arms, his wings coming back out. He jumped out the broken window, and flew into the sky. He flew into the clouds, keeping Becca close.
“You can't be serious,” she whispered.
