"You can't do this to me! My bébés will die!"
"Yeah, lady, tell it to the judge!" KF gently nudged Poison Ivy up the last few steps to Arkham Asylum, the infamous Gotham crazyhouse.
Cliche much?
"I had to say something!" he mentally replied.
She looked pleadingly at me. "Please! toi don't know what it's like, losing a relative!"
"I know plenty what it's like," I muttered, opening the door. Behind it, shrieks and screams emanated from each cell door, revealing a disheveled face in the little windows, pleading for mercy, for life.
"This place is giving me the creeps," KF said, out loud now.
Before I could answer, a guard came up to us and motioned Ivy into a cell. "You'll be staying there for a year, Ivy!" He slammed the door on her tear stained face.
He looked at us and smiled. "Thanks for bringing her in, guys. I was kind of missing her crazy talk."
Not funny. "Are these people taken care of properly?"
He shrugged. "We're paid to do enough for them." He pointed at the door we came in through. "You can go now."
As we walked back out into the courtyard, Kid Flash started whistling. He shuffled closer to me, and yawned--a perfect chance of putting an arm around me.
"Quit it, Wally!" I snapped.
He looked startled. "Geez, are toi taking lessons from Artemis?" When I didn't answer, he started muttering to himself.
Suddenly, an alarm was sounded, right behind us. "Come on!" I urged KF, and we ran back up the steps.
When we were back inside the room, the inmates were rowdier than ever.
"Guard?" I called out. No answer.
KF gasped. "Erica, look!"
We found the guard who had taken Poison Ivy to her cell. He was lying on the floor, cringing from something he was seeing.
A new scream joined the Asylum.
