I like the film as it is but still think it would have been kind of cool to see her as a villain

No. I don't see why people think it's better to let her as a villain. If they made her to be a typical evil Snow Queen, her character won't be that special.
She was special due of her misunderstanding as an villain.

I don't find myself wishing they'd stuck to the original idea, but I do find myself thinking about it from time to time regardless.

Something that I thought was really nice, though, was that the first Frozen TV advert I ever saw kind of depicted Elsa as the bad guy in a way (plus, the same advert called Hans the "nice guy"), which is fun to look back on. Funny enough, I don't recall being the slightest bit interested in the movie back then and if anything the advert probably made it look like it was full of mainstream media cliches that weren't actually present in the final product! Not actually a very good advert in that sense because it wasn't getting my attention in a good way, but like I said I like to look back on that one now that I know how different the movie itself really is!

I think it would be cool to see what it would have been like with Elsa being evil. However, I do like the movie the way it is.
