I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Have 'The Good Dinosaur' and 'Finding Dory' Been Shelved? [UPDATE]
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Uh-oh. Potential bad news, everyone. Although nothing has been confirmed by the studio, one of our readers pointed out that both
have been removed from Pixar’s Upcoming Movies list in their official site. As our astute reader also points out, none of the movies were even mentioned at CinemaCon 2014.
had temporarily replaced its director, Bob Peterson, with John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich and Mark Andrews. The original co-director, Peter Sohn, was still listed as co-director. Does this mean Pixar hasn’t found the right director for the project and it’s shelving it to avoid another not great movie?
we haven’t actually heard of any problems with that. Everyone assumed it has been pushed back to 2016 so
could take its spot but maybe the Andrew Stanton-helmed movie is also having trouble.
Again, all of this is speculation. We’ll keep you updated!
[UPDATE 4/5/14 2:30 PST] Looks like the “Upcoming” page has been updated and
are back on the slate. The release dates for both films are also back.
Also, this update does give us a little more information. For
, Peter Sohn is now listed as the sole director. He was originally slated as a co-director, but after Bob Peterson was taken off, we never officially knew who would be the director since the Pixar brain trust of John Lasseter,  Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews and Sohn took over temporarily. Not sure if he will have a co-director as this point. Also, there is no description for the movie, which previously had one on this page. Also, John Walker has been replaced as producer by Denise Ream.
From the tepuis of South America to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In 2015, he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all – inside the mind of an 11-year-old named Riley.
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city,
Despite the reappearance of these films on the upcoming page, it still makes us wonder. Is this a cover up of turmoil behind the scenes? Hopefully, that’s not true because we really want to see
Can’t say I’m excited for either one, but it’d be a downer.
I agree, I love Pixar, But Finding Dory and The Good Dinosaur never really made me excited
Finding Dory was never posted on Pixar.com, and Pixar rarely updates their website. For example, Toy Story of Terror is still the main image on the homepage.
Well, if you go to archive.org and check out the site back in October 2013, ‘The Good Dinosaur’ was posted there. Also, no mention at CinemaCon is an indicator as well, especially since it was talked about last year at Cinemacon.
Finding Dory was never listed on the site. So, I think Dory is safe for now and no assumptions can be made there…yet.
They probably deleted TGD on the site when they pushed it back and never updated the site since.
No, Pixar didn’t remove The Good Dinosaur when the date got pushed back in September. Even in October, November, December…it was there (check out the archive to verify). The Good Dinosaur has always remained on the site until just barely within the last few weeks, which to me signals problems.
I think this means it’s being moved to summer 2017 (when they restarted, they didn’t announce a director – a new director still hasn’t been named), instead of being shelved. Well at least I hope!
I think The Good Dinosaur was deleted to make way for Cars 3 and The Incredibles 2.
Hmm. Not good news. Although maybe? I am kind of concerned about their stated goal of increasing their production output.
Okay this is not funny and it’s proved that finding dory is on track ellen mentioned when Ty Burrel was on the ellen show just 2 weeks ago you guys are to late with this joke
I’m really excited for both movie’s so I hope eventually they will both reach the announced release dates.
I don’t think this is anything to worry about. Remember, we know both The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 are on the way and they’re not on there either. Like Milan says, it’s probably more to do with them not having updated the website.
Yes, but The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 were announced a few weeks ago. TGD and Finding Dory years ago..
Even so, the fact is they have been confirmed and yet are absent from the official listing of upcoming films. If they were included but TGD and FD were not then I’d be concerned. As it stands, only 2 of their films out of a potential 6 are listed which would suggest it simply hasn’t been updated.
Well Pixar only updates their site every once in a while and TGD was listed before it got cancelled so they probably deleted it and haven’t changed the date. Dory was never listed.
In fact Im happy they are working hard on TGD because I felt that the story they showed on D23 was to similar to the first Ice Age film without they were farmers. I mean it would be more interesting if the movie takes place in our time with dinosaurs because it looked like it would take place for a long time ago
I thought Pixar was already moving along with The Good Dinosaur and Finding Dory. Wouldn’t it be bad if they did cancel those projects and rushed into production with Incredibles 2? People don’t realize that Incredibles 2 has a lot of expectations much like the Toy Story franchise so if they rush it, we get a Cars 2. I just think they should release Incredibles 2 after the already slated Pixar movies.
Oh well, at least they are gonna put more effort into these movies and that’s better than crappy right?
wait, if both films are possibly shelved, does that mean Pixar is going on a break for 2 years?! o.e
I checked out the Pixar website; if you move the round slider down, you’ll see that The Good Dinosaur and Finding Dory are still listed. They’re just below Inside Out.
Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been looking forward to see these movies.
Just checked http://www.pixar.com/about/Upcoming and they are there now. Inside Out has a fuller synopsis. The Good Dinosaur still doesn’t have a director. Also the Dia de los Muertos film is now called Untitled Lee Unkrich film. All the films have release dates except for the Untitled Lee Unkrich film.
Yup, you’re right–there’s an official post (from a different animation site) that backs it up.
The two movies are back now, I hope it soothes y’all’s burning concern
On top of that, Pixar added new info on Inside Out. So the conclusion here is that Pixar probably removed them temporarily on the website during the updates, and Rotoscopers jumped the gun a little too early. Dont fret!
