3x09 was such a sad episode for them. When Tyler vervained Caroline I was like wtf is he doing?!? But when I realized it was to protect her it just about broke my cœur, coeur because I could see that break up coming from a mile away. For now Caroline doesn't feel she can trust Tyler, so that trust has to be buit up again for them to work.
