End of Chapter 18

"He's not coming back to visit, too is he?" Charlie asked. The anger montrer in his tone and all over his face, he obviously hated my brother.

"He doesn't even know I'm here. The last time I spoke with him he was in South America." I a dit softly as I looked Charlie right in the eyes.

"That's something, at least." Charlie a dit as he snorted softly. "Well, I hope he's enjoying himself."

I had to control my reaction, I understand that he is upset..and that his daughter was broken...but this was still my brother we were talking about. How could he be enjoying himself when he was away from Bella? I had to focus myself before I could answer.

"I wouldn't make assumptions, Charlie." I a dit as I felt my eyes narrow in anger.

That is not where I would have chosen to leave this conversation, with my anger making Charlie uncomfortable. I shook my head as I heard Bella fake stretch in the living room.

I knew that she had been awake for most of the conversation, she tried to hide that face, but she didn't do a good job. I wish that she hadn't heard certain parts of the conversation, I'm sure she was in deep thought about everything especially the parts about Edward.

Chapter 19

"Alice?" Bella called from the living room, her voice gritty from sleep.

"I'm in the cuisine Bella." I called back. I wanted to add 'And toi didn't fool me.' But i decided that wouldn't help anything at this point.

Bella came in and sat down in her usual chair, jouer la comédie like she had just woken up and didn't hear a thing. I had to fight the urge to laugh at her, did she honestly think she was fooling me?

A few minutes later, Charlie had to leave. He a dit that he as going to help the Clearwater's with anything he could.

"Are toi going to be ok?" Charlie asked Bella.

"Yeah dad, I'll be fine. Alice will be here with me. We have a lot of catching up to do." Bella a dit as she smiled at me.

"Alright, I'll have my cell on if toi need anything. Have fun girls." He a dit as he smiled at both of us before walking out the door.

We both went back to the living room where she sat right suivant to me, as if she were afraid I would run if she wasn't close.

"It's ok Bella, we'll get toi through this." I a dit as I hugged her softly.

"We'll? Does that mean you'll stay for a while?" She asked.

"Yes, I will stay for a while. I don't know how long, but I will stay for a while with you." I said.

"Oh good, thank toi Alice!!!" She a dit as she bounced on the couch. We both laughed at that.

"Since you're here, could toi tell me what everyone else is doing? I miss everyone so much." She asked.

"Well, Carlisle is working nights at a hospital in Ithaca NY, and teaching at Cornell. He seems happy, he always enjoys going back to school." I a dit as I wrinkled my face up at the idea of plus school. That got a laugh out of Bella.

"Esme is restoring a seventeenth century house, a historical monument apparently, in the woods north of town. She is keeping herself very busy, she says 'Idle hands are the devils playground.'" I a dit as I imitated Esme's voice.

"Let's see, Emmett and Rosalie went to Europe for a few months on another honeymoon, but they are back in Alaska now."

"Jasper is going to Cornell, studying philosophy this time. He's enjoying himself, he really enjoys classes that make him thing. He loves to be challenged and learning seems to be one of the only things that challenge him anymore." I a dit sadly as the loneliness came back.

"You mean the only thing that challenges him but you, right?" Bella asked as she shoved me.

"Oh..well yeah. Other then me." I a dit as I smiled.

"And you?" Bella asked softly.

"Oh me...well I've been doing some research myself. I managed to track down the asylum where I was kept. Um..I found out my name was Mary Alice Brandon." I a dit quietly. "I had a little sister named Cynthia, her daughter...my niece is still alive in Biloxi."

"Did toi find out why they put toi there?" Bella asked.

I shook my head, wondering how much I should tell her..I figured that since she was my best friend I could trust her to know what I have learned.

"I couldn't find much about them. I went through all the old newspapers on microfiche. My family wasn't mentioned often; they weren't part of the social cercle that would make the papers." I a dit as I shrugged. "My parents' engagement was there, and Cynthia's." I a dit as my emotions boiled to the surface again.

"My birth was announced..and my death. I found my grave. I also filched my admissions sheet from the old asylum archives. The rendez-vous amoureux, date on the admission sheet and my tombstone were the same." I whispered.

Bella hugged me tightly, knowing that I was hurting. I leaned my head down and kissed the haut, retour au début of her head, we both smiled.

"We're all together again now, Cornell is on break for a while and so Carlisle, Esme and Jasper have all rejoined us. It's really nice to have us together again, it's hard to be apart from family." I a dit as my sentence dropped off.

We were all together again except for Edward, he was the missing piece. I knew that it wasn't just me that missed him terribly, but I was the one who admitted it openly.

Charlie came accueil then, and I was very grateful to see him. We had managed to avoid talking about Edward. I didn't want to tell her what I knew about him because I thought it would just hurt her more, and I didn't know if she could take that at this point.

We spent the rest of that night on the couch, talking about things that were going on at school. I pretended that I cared about all the people that she talked about. A few hours later she was yawning again and fell asleep on the couch.

When I managed to pry myself out from under her, I changed my clothes before returning to my chair to 'sleep.' I covered myself with a blanket, figuring that humans got cold so I should use one to fool Charlie.

The suivant morning Charlie came down wearing a horrible suit. I had to fight my urge to dress him, I kept imagining how good he would look is he wore a nice Italian suit. Since I was pretending to sleep, I held still when he fixed my blanket, and when he turned to do the same to Bella I saw her eyes flash shut. Obviously I wasn't the only one pretending today.

When Charlie left, I quickly sat up. I turned to face Bella who was now sitting up also.

"So, what are we doing today?" I asked curiously.

"I don't know...do toi see anything interesting happening?" She asked as she smiled.

I closed my eyes and focused on the future, nothing terribly exciting was going to happen. The only thing of interest I saw was her tripping over the table, tableau leg in the cuisine and falling. I shook my head slowly, fighting the urge to laugh at her.

"Nope, but it's still early." I said.

"I should catch up on some things I let pile up." She a dit as she thought about all her chores.

We chatted about little things as she cleaned the house. We talked about célébrités and their lives, about her Friends in La Push, school and things of no importance.

She was scrubbing the floor of the bathroom when the doorbell rang. I didn't see her having any visitors, how could I have missed this. I closed my eyes and tried to see if I could figure out who it was. There was a possibility that it could be Jacob, but why wouldn't I be able to see him? Bella was watching my face very closely, I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders.

"Hold on!!" Bella shouted as she ran to the sink to wash her hands.

"Bella, I have a fairly good guess who that might be, and I think I better step out." I a dit with frustration in my voice.

"Guess?" Bella was confused, and to tell the truth so was I.

"If this is a repeat of my vision disappearing like yesterday, then it's most likely Jacob Black ou one of his....friends."

"You can't see werewolves?" She asked as she put everything together.

"So it would seem." I a dit annoyance obvious on my face and tone.

The doorbell rang again, buzzing twice. Obviously someone was impatient.

"You don't have to go anywhere, Alice. toi were here first."

I had to laugh at her, she thought it would be a good idea for me to be in the same room as a werewolf, let alone the werewolf that wanted to rendez-vous amoureux, date my friend/brothers love.

"Trust me...it wouldn't be a good idea to have me and Jacob Black in the same room together." I a dit as I imagined fighting the boy I never met.

I kissed her cheek quickly before I ran through Charlies door, and jumped out the window. I landed on the ground and snuck around to see what this werewolf looked like.
