Chapter 4
They managed to get him out the door, the sounds of Jazz's growls still roaring into the house. Emmett still had him in his arms and was now walking around the house to the woods. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I saw Esme look back at the mess and then out the door before she walked out closing the door behind her.
"Edward, let me check her." Carlisle a dit as he walked over. Edward was still in a defensive stance and took a moment before he relaxed and let Carlisle close.
Her arm was very badly cut, I ran into the cuisine and grabbed a cuisine towel. I ran back to Carlisle and handed it to him.
"Too much glass in the wound." He a dit as he examined the wound.
"Bella, would toi like to go to the hospital ou would toi like me to take care of this here?" He asked still calm.
"Here please." She a dit quietly looking around the room.
"I'll get your bag." I a dit as I ran upstairs and grabbed his medical bag from his office.
I stopped for a seconde to look out the window. I couldn't see anyone anymore, I knew I needed to go talk to Jasper but I felt so responsible for the injury that I had to stay with Bella as long as I could.
Chapter 5
I grabbed Carlisle's bag from below his bureau and ran back downstairs to find Carlisle, Edward and Bella at the cuisine table. Bella sitting on one of the chairs looking very pale for her and Carlisle had pulled another chair suivant to hers and set her arm on the table, tableau to begin removing the glass from the cut.
I grabbed a small lamp from the bureau and plugged it in so that Carlisle could have better light to fix her arm. He got to work picking glass out of the wound and looking to see if there was any nerve ou muscle damage.
Edward was still standing behind/over Bella. His face was so stiff that his jaw stuck out. I knew that the smell of her blood was too much for him yet he stood over her, as if he was going to protect her from someone.
"Just go Edward." Bella sighed.
"I can handle it." He insisted without looking anywhere except for her arm.
"Don't be a hero. Carlisle can fix me up without your help. Please go get some air." She asked as Carlisle injected Novocaine into her arm to numb the area.
"I'll stay." He a dit as he watched her flinch a little from the pain.
"Why are toi so masochistic?!" I asked him. I had had enough, he needed to get out. Why was he torturing himself this way?
"Yeah, go find Jasper." Bella added.
"Yeah go do something useful." I suggested.
His eyes narrowed as he stood there. I knew that he felt ganged up on, but why would toi stay when toi were being tortured.
"Stay Alice, Please." He thought to me.
"I will. Go find Jasper, he must be so upset." I said, the sadness even montrer in my thoughts.
He nodded slightly and ran out the back door, going to find Jasper. I wished that I could go with him...Jasper needed me. I have never not been with him when he had problems, and I didn't want this to be the first time.
I had told Edward that I would try and stay. Carlisle began pulling small pieces of crystal out of her arm. She must have been numb, because she acted like she didn't realize what was going on.
I found myself staring at the bowl that was now filling up with little pieces of blood covered glass. I wasn't sure why but I wanted to get closer, and I knew that I had to get out of the room and now would be a good time.
I caught Bella's eyes and gave her a small apologizing smile before I ran out the back door. I was just outside the door when I heard her say "Well, that's everyone. I can clear a room at least."
I shook my head as I began running. The feeling of guilt was still strong. If we would have listened to her and not gotten her any presents this would have never happened. She wouldn't have had any chance of hurting herself. ou if I would have just not wrapped the presents and just set them in front of her. Why hadn't I thought about that a little further?
I ran into the woods, following the smell of my family. I ran for about 10 minutes before the smell was strong enough that I knew everyone was just on the other side of the river.
I jumped the river with no problems and landed suivant to Esme. She looked down at me and wrapped her arms around my shoulders.
"Oh Alice." Was all she had to say.
I hugged her back, not sure what to say at this point. I looked around the small area and saw Emmett and Rosalie sitting on a rock talking quietly to each other.
My eyes continued looking around, looking for Edward and Jasper. They were not in the clearing, I didn't know where they were but the smell was strong but obviously they were not here.
"Where are they?" I asked Esme.
"They went further into the hills. Jasper is very upset obviously, he feels like he let all of us down. Edward went after him, but Edward is very upset in his own right." She a dit shaking her head.
"I need to find them." I a dit as the panic snuck into my voice.
I turned to the north finding their trail again. I took off running as fast as I possibly could, knowing that both of them had tempers and neither of them would be thinking right at this point.
When the smell got strong enough that I could almost taste their scents I slowed down to a walk. I didn't want to interrupt them, but I didn't want them to fight either.
"Alice, toi can come out." Edward a dit bitterly.
"Watch your tone, she feels responsible too." Jasper said.
I walked into the area and found both of them standing about 10 feet apart. Both of them had their arms crossed on their chests and they both had a defensive stance to the way they stood.
"Can we talk?" I asked quietly.
Jasper looked at me for a fraction of a seconde before lowering his head in shame. I wanted to walk to him, to comfort him but I still had to talk to Edward first.
"What?" Edward said.
"It's not your fault.." Was all I got out before he started stalking towards me.
"Don't toi DARE say this isn't my fault!!" He yelled in my face.
I stood there not moving, knowing that his anger was getting the best of him right now. If he wanted to take it out on me he could, I already felt horrible so what plus could he do?
We both stood there staring at each other, Jasper growled from where he stood still. We both looked at him and Edward dropped his arms and took a defensive stance again. The growl building deep in his chest.
I had enough. I walked in between both of them, not caring who got mad at me at this point. I stood there looking from Jasper to Edward and back.
"ENOUGH! She's hurt!! She could have died! Why are we fighting each other!?" I yelled at both of them.
Jasper reached his hand out to me, I looked at him for a seconde and took his hand.
"Take his side." Edward a dit quietly.
"Enough Edward. I am not taking anyone's side. We need to talk about this." I a dit trying to calm myself down.
I looked at Jasper, his shame was written all over his face. I knew that he had been having problems controlling his hunger, and tonight was almost the straw that broke the camels back.
"Jazz." I a dit as I ran my hand down his face.
"I'm sorry, I didn't. I Lost control, please forgive me?" He a dit as he put his head on my shoulder.
"Oh Jazz, toi didn't do anything. toi could have but that was stopped." I a dit running my hand in his hair.
I hugged him tight and turned to Edward. His face still tight, he was trying to keep me from seeing what he was feeling.
"Edward?" I asked as I took a step closer to him.
He wouldn't look me in the eye. I knew this was not a good sign, he was thinking deeply again. He was contemplating things and he wouldn't tell anyone his thoughts until he made the decision.
I stopped what I was doing and looked into the future. It was unsure still, one seconde I saw Edward breaking up with Bella. We would stay in town and he would do his best to avoid her, never allowing his true feelings to be known again.
The seconde vision flashed for only a second. I saw him leaving...all of us leaving. He would say his peace to her and we would all leave town. I tried to look at that thought closer when it changed again.
The last vision was Bella. Bella still and cold like I had seen her before Edward and her went to the meadow for the first time.
Edward was seeing the things I saw and grabbed my arm breaking me of the vision. I turned to him and couldn't say a word. The pain and confusion in his eyes was enough that I knew that one of those things would happen soon.
