what did edward mean when he a dit "carlisle was right" in new moon?

edward didn't believe that he could go to heaven (being a vampire and all). but when he saw bella, he thought the volturi had killed him, and that he was in heaven with bella. earlier in the book, carlisle was telling bella that he believed that vampires could go to heaven, and that he didn't think they were soulless the way edward did.

Rosalie told him Bella was dead and he thinks the Volturi already killed him. Carlisle a dit that they kill toi fast.

Edward believed that when he saw Bella he was in heaven...and earlier in the book carlisle a dit that vampires could go to heaven.

edward always thought that he will end up in hell becuz he had Lost his soul when he changed into a vampire but carlisle always thought it dependes on what toi do if it's good toi will go to heaven and if it's bad toi will go to hell,so when edward went to italy to kill him self after he thought that bella is dead ,he thought they both met in the other life ou in another word Heaven ,so he thought carlisle is right !long story right ? can't keep it short!

he was saying that vampires do have an afterlife that carlisle was right!
