Do toi think Cal actually loved Rose?

Yeah, I think he loved her... in his own way.

(Which - don't take this the wrong way - doesn't mean that his actions were right)

I think he loved the idea of Rose. A young, beautiful, educated wife. A wife anyone would be proud off.

I think he did in his own way. Even though he slapped her and shot at her, he was hurt, and toi could tell! I mean Jack drew Rose naked and she gave the pic to him and I guess when she jumped back on the ship for JACK, it got to him and he just had to take out his anger! But in the deleted scene "The First" toi can tell that he has feelings for her par the way he was cuddling into and the way he was being sexual toward her! And in another extended scene on the Carpathia, when he was looking for Rose, he saw a girl with a dress and bright red hair and ran up to her in hopes that it was her, so when toi see that, toi know that he loved and cared about her, but with the way that his world was, he had hard a way of montrer it to her!

Absolutly NOT! He didn't l’amour her at all. It was all about having a trophy wife - She was young and beautiful and thats all he cared about.

He didn't know that she had no money but Jack didnt care about the money. He loved Rose in spite of everything and he deserves her.

I think he really cared for her. I think it was just jealousy that made he want to shoot Rose and Jack with a gun and slap her across the face. (SPOILERS): In fact, there's a deleted scene on the 3 disc special collectors edition dvd that has an extended version of where they are on the rescue ship going to New York. It shows Rose, Bruce Ismay, Ruth, Cal's 'child' (the girl he selfishly rescued), and plus getting on the ship. And also, it shows a little extended scene where Cal is looking for Rose to see if she survived. And the extended part is where he runs up to a red-headed girl from behind, thinking it's Rose. He says: "Rose!" He's smiling (and teary-eyed)and is very grateful. He then notices it's not Rose. He looks her up and down, now frowning. And then he walks right past her with her capuche, hotte up like we see in the real movie that was shown. But it obviously shows in that little scene that was cut out of the movie that he still cared about her.

I think yes too cause he really wanted her to be sûr, sans danger when he convinced her that he and jack will survive but he loved himself plus .

well i really dont think that he loved her i think he did cause he tried to put her in a bateau and reserved one for her of course he treated her like shit but i dont know

I don't know... I guess he did. I mean, he did TRY in his own way to l’amour her. But then he ended up being a total ass. But I think part of it was jealousy, and part of it was just being jerk face.

I'm not sure. I think deep down, he cared about her. I wouldn't say he loved her though.

What made me question myself, is this deleted scene. I could not find it on it's own, but it's the very last one in this video. It shows him looking for Rose at the end, which was in the movie. However, the movie did not montrer him running up to someone he believed to be Rose. He sounded relieved, to me. It made me think he was really hoping to find her, really hoping she was alive. That he actually may have cared.

Without doubt. Keep in mind that he lived 100 years ago, when emotion in men was beleived to be a weakness. He just didn't know how to montrer that he loved her.

Cal did l’amour her but treated her and saw as his,an item that he owned. Not a person. That's why she got so angry when she fell in l’amour with Jack, he was taking something away from him that he believed to be his.

woman as arm Candy ou maybe a trophy wife. He tried to buy her
love, and we all know she wasn't happy in the beginning.
He was a bit too old, demanding, and abusive.
I kind of thought her mother sold her to him (I could be wrong)
He should've taken Ruth instead if Ruth was so worried about
debt and wanted to be rich. Even if she had never met Jack ou proceeded to go stay on the lifeboat, ou on the Carpathia with him and her mother, she would've been miserable. Hell, no wonder she felt trapped and tried to jump. He suffocated her.

No I don't think he did.He hit her,he wanted to command her.That isn't love.I believe he just wanted to get married so he could inherit his millions(like Old Rose a dit at the end of the movie)
