It was called The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero Interview: montrer Boss Reveals Message About Finale - Hollywood Life
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
‘Walking Dead’ Boss Sends Message To Fans…
‘The Walking Dead’s epic cliffhanger on Apr. 3 left their legion of fans up in arms, not knowing which of the beloved cast members was killed by new VERY bad guy Negan. The show’s Executive Producer feels their pain, and is now preaching a message of patience.
fans, the show’s boss Greg Nicotero, 53, has confirmed that the show planned all along to leave viewers hanging for another six months to see who gets the fatal blows from Negan’s barbed-wire covered baseball bat “Lucille.” He didn’t set out to piss off the show’s fan base with the nail-biting ending, but he’s confident that
viewers are patient enough that they’ll be back for more come October. Read for more of what else he wants fans to know.
“My message to fans is thank you for watching because their passion and their love for the show is what keeps us alive. And to trust us, because I know people feel like, ‘Oh, you guys pulled the rug out from under us!’,” Greg told
Apr. 5. “People are angry and people are frustrated, and in a couple days, they might be less frustrated. By the time we’re ready to be back on the air, hopefully they’ll be ready to watch again and continue our journey.” OF COURSE they will because everyone’s dying to know who Negan brutally kills! It’s the waiting that the fans are so upset over.
“We have tremendously passionate fans. Everybody has emotion about it and that’s actually OK. We were still, and I’m still, very proud of the episode. I love the storytelling. I feel like it’s some of the best acting that we’ve had,” Greg added and he should know, because he directed the season six finale! “You know, it’s a little unfortunate, but you know, the truth of the matter is, everyone’s entitled to their opinion, their emotion. I think it just shows their heart is in it.”

As for whether or not they thought about shooting the finale in a way to let fans know who got Negan’s lethal death blows, “It was always intended to be shot the way that it was shot,” he confirmed. So there was never any question that the finale was going to end with such a major cliffhanger.

He appeared to play coy on which character won’t be around for season seven, admitting that “It’s a matter of the scripts for the next season haven’t come out yet. I mean, we start production in a couple weeks, so I’m headed down to start filming in a few weeks.” Oh man, we can’t imagine the amount of paparazzi that will be surrounding their Atlanta set every day, waiting to see which of our favorite stars is no longer returning to work.
