Le Fantôme de l’Opéra Question

Why does everybody hate the Dario Argento version, where the Phantom and Christine ARE IN LOVE?

Dario Argento directs films in the HORROR genre his version of POTO is one of them, and he thinks GORE is what is most horrifying, Keep that in mind.

First of all, ALMOST every phan wants the Phantom and Christine to be together. seconde of all, I've seen about 16 versions of the story, so far, and I can only compare five of them to the novel:

1. The 1987 cartoon version
2. The 1925 version
3. The Andrew Lloyd Webber 1986 musical version
4. The 1943 version
5. The 1983 version

The rest are to far off to be compared, if I did they would ALL be bad.

Third of all, although the Phantom is not deformed his lines sound like they were inspired par the original novel at least.

I didn't know someone liked the Dario Argento version... toi learn a new thing everyday I guess..

Anyway, speaking for myself, though like the idea of the phantom getting Christine, it just isn't plausible there are to many factors in the way, and I'm not talking about Raoul. If Raoul were the only reason I don't think LND would be hated so much.
The Argento version is not only a bad movie but its a bad reputation of the phantom himself. He has no physical disabilities, so why is he tortured? why is he even underneath the opera house to begin with? why did his parents abandoned a perfectly good baby? It doesn't make any sense, and as a viewer toi don't really care about the phantom because the movie only shows him as creepy, rat obsession (which they sorta explain as telepathic speech, sorta) no matter how toi slice it putting a rat down your pants is creepy and all it made me want to do is turn the movie off not root for this freak to have a romance. At least in the original novel and other adaptations the phantom usually comes off (at first) as suave and classy (esp. in the ALW version) but in this version he is weird from the start, it made me hope Christine would run toward Raoul.
But with all that a dit no matter which version C/E could still never be together because the Phantom is a sociopath, and would never be able to hold down a relationship and for the simple fact that Christine did not romantically l’amour him. I think if Erik had killed Raoul as he threaten that would have pushed Christine to truly hate him.
