I think Johnny would've been off the hook because Ponyboy and Cherry will testify by his side. It was self defense to save Ponyboy's life!!

I think that Johnny would have served a sentence in jail, but he wouldn't be executed for manslaughter because without thinking about his life, he saved those kids. Now, Johnny would also be bedridden for the rest of his life, remember, he won't even be able to walk with crutches.
