I've always had this theory that the reason she called off the wedding wasn't because Jim kissed her but because he had left for Stamford. I mean, she always knew that Roy wasn't the ideal husband but she was going into the marriage with the assumption that she would always have a fulfilling emotional relationship with Jim. After he left, she was forced to realize that a marriage to Roy would be equal to a lifetime of unhappiness with no "best friend" to use as a crutch.

Anyway, just my opinion.

That is a good point Gstine. I just think moments like the jinx when she said 'Jim, you can tell me anything.' and they have that sad awkward moment - the look on her face was like she knew that was the wrong thing to say and she knew why just for that second. Thats wat convinced me.

She and Jim told each other when they first liked each other and Pam said this. Oh and Gstine she told Jim that she called off the wedding for him before he left it was on beach day. So your "theory" isn't correct.
