Pride Rock appeared menacing in the dark of midnight, black clouds circling the structure. The air stood completely still, along with the tall grass. Then, in the blink of an eye, it all changed. Cristal drops of rain turned to giant diamonds, shattering on the savannah ground. The still air turned into frightening winds, blowing away branches from trees. The breath-taking silence was broken par a roar of pain.

In the tanière, den of Pride Rock, all crowded a dark brown lioness. She was breathing heavily, her black-rimmed ears pinned sharply back. She dug her claws into the ground, gasping it tightly.

"It's alright, it is all okay." Assured a large, tan lion. His black mane wet from the rain. "Hang in there Akari." The lion had his ears pinned aswell, his golden eyes flodded with nervousness.

An heure passed after plus roars of pain, plus whispers of reassurance, and plus nervouse glares. Suddenly, it all stopped. Roars were pushed away par large breaths, whisperes were silenced par happy chatter, andglares were replaced par relieved sighs.

The lion looked at Akari, smiling. He walked to lick her cheek when he went still. The lion began to shake, nudging her. "Akari?" He spoke with an unsure voice. "Akari?!" His uncertanty turned to panic, as he saw her still, amber eyes wide open. "Answer me, Akari!!!"

Whispers arose once plus in the crowd of lions. Finaly, an voice called out. "She is dead, Kano. She is gone..." The crowd went silent, as did Kano.

Kano began to sob. After a moment of tears, he picked up the small, wet, cub. He licked her clean, his tear-stained face rubbing hers. "Raji." He a dit blankly, hurt still sensable in his deep voice. "Your name is Raji."

---

Months had passed, and yound Raji was now able to speak. She had her fathers tan pelt, her mothers black ear rims and tail, her fathers golden eyes, and her very own wide imagination. She stuck near her father, he being her only friend, but sometimes she would wonder off.

It was early in the morning when Raji awoke to some movement. She blinked her eyes hard before looking around. Kano stood over her, staring. He nudged her lightly. "Come with me now, Raji. I'm going to montrer toi something." With a tired nod of the head, Raji stood and shook her fur. She trotted to her father, who had made his way to the entrance of the prides den.

They walked togeather untill they were a bit away from pride rock. He stopped in his tracks, reached down, and roughly snatched her up. "Ouch!" She yelped at the sudden pain.

"Shut up." Kano growled lowly. Raji had never before seen her father so mad. She immediately shut up, as instructed, and stayed as still as possible as her father carried her across the land. Kano jumped over a large ravine, barely managing the leap and slipping on a few rocks. He squeezed Raji tighter, and she whimpered slightly.

The land where they were was baren, large termite mounds stood almost as high as Pride Rock. Raji looked around in awe untill she spotted a dark lion. He smiled down at her, his green eyes examining her. "Why, hello young one." Kano dropped her to the ground with a thud.

"Here." He spat, knocking her toward the dark lion. "Take her, have her as your own, Scar." He turned away and ran off without another word. Scar smiled, putting a large paw over Raji and pulling her close.

"Welcome." He a dit with a smirk. "What is your name? Hm?" He stooped down to her, his eyes staring her down. Raji was confused, never befor expecting something like this to happen. "Don't toi worry." He started to her. "I don't always bite hard." An evil look painted his face.

"R-Raji." She let out. "I am Raji." She pinned her ears back, hoping she wouldn't die tonight, as she was so sure she would.

Scar stood up. "Nice to make your aquaintance... Raji..." He turned, and began to walk. He looked back. "Come with me now, Raji." He smirked. Raji felt her cœur, coeur drop. She looked behind her, then followed Scar.

She caught up to him, ears pinned back. She was scared, and she knew it was noticable. Her golden eyes looked over the baren land... 'What if I am to be eaten? There doesn't seem to be much nourriture here. Why did Father leave me like that? Was it because I killed mother like he said?' Thoughts raced through her head, and she didn't even know Scar had stopped.

Scar reached out and tugged Raji back. He looked around the large termite mounds, then continued walking. He turned to the largest mound. He grabbed Raji and pushed her through a small hole. He made his way through the hole after her, moving through tunnels untill he reached a large room.

The room was giant, lions everywhere. Some were fighting, some were sleeping, and some weren't doing anything. Scar leaned down and chuckled darkly, "Welcome home."

---

Night fell over the mounds, and Raji let out a small yawn. She had been following Scar around all day. Scar glanced down at her, then walked into another tunnel which led to a wide room. He layed down in the back of the room. Raji looked around the room. A few other lions were here, all asleep. She perked her ears and quickly trotted to Scar. She layed suivant to him, falling asleep. Scar glanced down, startled at the cub. He flicked an ear, then closed his eyes, falling asleep.

These are of course only my own, personal TOP10 reasons for loving it. :)

1. It's very unlike your standard Disney cartoon. It's dark and psychologically deep and complex story and doesn't sugar manteau anything. Even the dead stay dead. Apart from Mufasa's ghost coming to guide Simba, but he was still dead! And unlike usually, the "resurrection" actually works for the story instead of being there to make kids happy. I mean, without the ghost scene the story would've been very different.

2. It bases on Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' mixed with a bit of the story of Moses from the Bible. That makes the story...
