The Master Sword itself was first used par Link in "Link to the Past" (the third game), but the first two games had a similar sword called the Noble Sword. It has also been used in Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of ages (as power-ups of the Noble Sword) and Twilight Princess. I have yet to play Four Swords, Minish casquette, cap and Phantom Hourglass the whole way through so I'm unsure about them, although Wikipedia does not mention the obtaining of the Master Sword in any of those three games.
I' ve never heard of a legend of zelda game that doesn't have the master sword in it,but normally link has a smaller quality sword before he holds the master sword.
In almost every game, Link starts out with a sword then gains a new sword, the Master Sword ou The sword of evil Banes. The first two games however did not have the Master sword in it. It was first introduced in A Link to the Past.

No. In oot he first starts with the koriki sword then gets the master sword. Then he can choose to get the biggoron sword. at the begining of mm I dont know the sword but its not master. In ww toi start out with a plain sword . in spirit tracks toi don't get the master sword its some other legendary sword. In four swords toi use the four sword in tp toi start with a wooden sword then get a normall sword. in ss there are so many swords i'm not going to name them.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!! In Spirit Tracks, Link uses the Lokomos Sword, in Phantom Hourglass, Link uses the Phantom Sword, in Minish casquette, cap and Four Swords, Link uses the Four Sword
