No, He became a loup because he came to the mur of twilight and a dark hand grabbed him! It was a monster and it was going to kill him, until the triforce symbol on link's hand blinded the monster! then the monster threw link on the ground and link started screaming then he got turned into a loup and the monster dragged him away to Zelda's château which was covered in darkness and the monster locked link in a prison cell. that's how link got turned into a loup in twilight princess!

He was the hero of time so the twilight changed him into a loup instead of making him a spirit like the rest of them

Well in Twilight Princess, Link is the decendent of Ocarina's of Time's Hero of Time Link (which techniclly makes him the same deal) so when twilight blankets Hyrule, Link is the Chosen Hero and takes on the form of a loup instead of a sprit. YEAH
