I think when he was in hell he met up with a crossroad demon like maybe Bela she did give/sell the colt to Crowley so anything is possible. Anyways if the crossroad demon made him a deal give me your soul & I'll let you out hell maybe he agreed to it. It's just a theory what do you think?
