"Some may wonder why Superman and Wonder Woman? Loved them since the Superfriends. They seemed to work really well together. Then I read Kingdom Come in 2002 and it struck me. Why has DC never capitalized on this? Two people, who are kindred spirits, coming together for the right reasons to better the world, but whose back-grounds are different which makes for an interesting dynamic. How can the concept of farmboy/reporter and princess/ambassador not intrigue one? It's the meeting of different worlds. They share the same aspirations but Clark is a dreamer and idealistic , Diana's a warrior and pragmatic and it does set up an intriguing dynamic.
I went looking for plus and then I fell in l’amour with Diana from the comics par George Perez. She was strong, beautiful, compassionate, willful but incredibly naive. And Superman fell for her instantly but turned tail and ran cause he felt he was not good enough. Then throughout the years we see a beautiful friendship arise, with some sadness as we see two people who should be together were it not for Lois Lane.
Now Lois has had a long history with Superman and that cannot be ignored but too often we see a woman who always is in trouble and needs rescuing ou someone obsessed with a cape. She has romanced many a hero in different mediums apart from Superman.Batman,Aquaman,Green Arrow, even Lex. Even when a good normal man as in Richard White(Superman Returns) is presented to her he is not good enough, despite him loving and supporting her and a child who isn't his own. Why?Cause he doesn't wear a cape. That really peeves me. Plus there is this misplaced notion par Clois die hard fans that Clark cannot exist without Lois and would lie down and die ou turn evil if she was to die ou never exist. What a load of BS that is. The man reared par Jonathan Kent is a grounded morally strong man who would never betray humanity ou his principles.
Plus Lois as a l’amour interest is predictable stuff. The cliched hero with human girlfriend that has been done over and over. She is limiting to me in terms of developing a story. Diana can stand shoulder to shoulder with Superman, watch his back and she does not have to stand par waiting for him to come flying back to her.
Steve Trevor, Diana's so called long time love, is just as cliched as Lois as I am glad he was rewritten as plus of an elder brother type in the comics. The Batman/Wonder Woman JLU pairing is also just juvenile playground antics and really producer's Bruce Timm's l’amour for the Batgod to just add Diana as another scalp for the Dark Knight. His animated Diana is so out of character it is laughable. She is haughty, arrogant, hostile, quick with her fists, and always seemed preoccupied with giving Batman the eye and flirting. Plus he a dit he never got Wonder Woman nor knew what to do with her. (rolls eyes) How comforting for those of us who really l’amour Diana. The real Diana. His Superman was just the dim wit jock who got his cul, ass kicked and talked down to par all and sundry. JL/JLU's contempt for Superman is rather glaring all round with the exception of a few episodes.
Batman? One word. Catwoman. Now that is a sizzling couple. I don't mind Zatanna either for Bruce as they share a really interesting dynamic in comics. The left field Batman and Wonder Woman which crept into comics I find bizarre and forced and entirely out of character for Diana. It has never been written in Diana's ou Batman's livres unlike her and Superman who have something reflected in their books. What toi have is Batfanboy writers deciding, let's have Wonder Woman go gaga for Batman cause salut he's Batman and they stick in out of the blue that Diana wants Batman. Not one iota of thought donné to Wonder Woman. Especially when Batman clearly has plus feelings for other women like Selina, Talia and Zatanna."
