The convicted robber who helped to end a campaign of terror against Steven Gerrard was paid £10,000 for his role, it was claimed yesterday.

Self-styled enforcer John Kinsella 'had a word' with gangster George Bromley junior after he allegedly threatened the England footballer in a row over a woman.

Kinsella, 43, absconded from lincoln Crown Court last week minutes before a jury found him guilty of a £60,000 robbery at a lorry park in Lincolnshire.

In his absence, he was sentenced to 13 years for the robbery and a an for dangerous driving during a police chase.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that captain Steven Gerrard is a doubt for his side's Champions League semi-final first-leg tie with Chelsea on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old missed the Reds 2-0 Barclays Premier League win over Fulham with a neck injury and Benitez is unsure if he will be fit to face the Blues at Anfield.

Benitez said: "I was talking with the physios today (Saturday) and he [Gerrard] is improving but it is still too soon [to say if he will be fit for Chelsea]."

He added: "You always have to be careful with the neck - he has been scoring a lot of goals with his head."

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez as he battles to convince critics his team can salvage their season par gaining what is looking an unlikely Champions League place suivant season.
And it will not have helped Gerrard's mood as he wrestles with the dilemma of whether to stay with his home-town club and accept the frustration of yet another campaign without a major honour, ou cash in on the final years of his career with a �40million déplacer this summer.
He will have no lack of suitors, with Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan and Premier League big spenders Manchester City believed to be interested in a deal.
Gerrard's discontent at Anfield has been obvious in a season when Benitez has again failed to mount a meaningful campaign for the championship and has struggled even to convince fans that a Champions League place is within Liverpol's reach.

Robbie Keane scored his first Premier League goals for Liverpool as they beat West Brom to go three points clear of Chelsea at the haut, retour au début of the table.

A combination of Scott Carson's body and Jonas Olsson's arm prevented Yossi Benayoun's shot opening the scoring.

But there was no stopping Keane when he latched on to Steven Gerrard's pass before clipping the ball over Carson.

Keane scored his seconde goal when he rounded Carson and slotted accueil before Alvaro Arbeloa curled in a late third.

Keane will be delighted to get off the mark in the league, following his £20m summer déplacer from Tottenham....

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed his desire to compete as a member of the British team at the Londres 2012 Olympic Games.

During the post-match press conference following Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, the 26 year-old was faced with questions not only on the game, but the possibility of representing his country at the suivant Olympiad.

    Steven Gerrard today revealed how he has dealt with the demanding week which will define Liverpool's season - he's been watching the Tweenies with his kids.

Chelsea manager Avram Grant admitted Sunday he would l’amour to sign Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.

Chelsea are preparing to face Gerrard and Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at Anfield on Tuesday in what could be a key match for Grant's future at Stamford Bridge.

And the Israeli claims the impact the 27-year-old has on the Merseyside team makes him the best player in England if not in Europe.

Grant said: "Gerrard is a great player and a great person.

"For me, he is the player of the an in England, and maybe in Europe, because of the influence he has on the team.

"I like him very much as a player and I know him.

"He is a nice guy and an example to others.

"He plays against me but he is still my favourite player."

Chelsea have previously tried to sign Gerrard and Grant added: "If toi can bring him to me, I will be happy."
