I must admit, it was reading the story of Severus Snape, through all the books, every snarl, every curse, every enraged motion, every smirk, sarcastic remark, and mean-heartedness, while also reading about how his actions were still loyal, his information was still truth, still providing safety for children, then finding out about his past, his passion, his promise. It was the story that made Severus Snape perfect for me.

Oh man, doesn't it make you wonder if Severus felt betrayed? Here was this friendship between him and Lily, one they never talk about them fighting in, just sharing confidences, hanging on to their friendship through sorting into different houses.
And that friendship is lost, no matter what he tried to win it back. No matter if he apologized. Gone. No 'Get out of jail card' no "Pass Go and collect $200" cards. Just, over. It would feel like part of you had been severed off, a phantom that you turned to without realizing to share something with...and that pang you would get upon realizing it was gone, once again.

Sometimes its hard to heal yourself by forgiving people that have been absolute shits to you. I have someone, that I run into still occassionally, and its hard to even speak to her. Most of the time, I sit on opposite sides of the room or make sure there are people in between us. Its so hard to forgive.

I once heard the saying, you can either forget or you can forgive, that you cannot do both.

So, in some ways, I can understand Severus' obsessive hatred for James Potter and disdain for Sirius Black and his disgust for Peter Pettigrew.

I think him forgiving Lily, was easy. I think he probably did quickly after their fight. I've always wondered how long it would have taken Lily to forgive him though....if she ever would have.

karen, you've a good point, but I don't think that he blamed Lily for anything, so he wouldn't have anything to forgive her for. We think there is plenty he could blame her for, but judging from his behavior and actions, I don't think he would have found her at fault for anything. He blamed himself far too much.

I don't understand why some people hate Severus Snape. I understand Voldemort, he was made out to be the villian, the unrepentant evil.

Funny thing is, this song came out when I was in 3rd grade, and I loved it, and had no idea what she was singing about. What need in me? Chocolate?! Even better, I took to singing this during recess, and not one person thought it odd that a 9 year old was singing some rather provocative lyrics. Maybe it was best not to bring it up? Who knows.

Family/Friend's band here in Louisiana. I actually like the sound, I like the words.

Everyone struggles to find that place they belong. Just trying to find a friend that 'gets' them, a partner that loves them, a family member that 'understands' and a place that will let you be you. A place to belong.

My poor professor, I love reading fanfic where he comes into his own in a place with people that appreciate him.

And to go a little retro, I was sitting at my desk today and this song came on shuffle on my phone. Found myself vigorously singing along with it (its that type of song) and thought of, yes, Severus Snape. It FITS him so freaking well. I mean really, we all finish reading DH, and millions of readers go online trying to see if JKR is going to give him an epilogue, maybe where he lives but somewhere away from Hogwarts and that world. Not finding what we were looking for, we turned to our own creativity. And, thus, fanfic was born. To my eternal enjoyment. Millions of people have given Severus a chance to fly with endless plot lines.

I am a music lover. I keep something like 900 songs on my phone and play shuffle a lot (most of the time) while I'm working. Everything goes better with music.
