Severus Rogue Question

Rumors/Myths about Severus

So, now that the films are coming to an end I've been hearing a lot of rumors/myths about a lot of characters, but it seems most of them are about Severus. Some of them have merit and some of them don't. I heard that they're changing the memory scene, so that Severus is at Godric's Hollow right after James and Lily were killed. So the rumor of him being there the entire night has started to come back.

I think the most ridiculous rumor I've heard is that Nagini killed Severus par eating him.

What about toi guys? What rumors and myths have toi guys heard about Severus?

Well, the most populaire of course is the one about his middle name being Tobias. Nowhere is the livres ou films it is a dit that it is his middle name ou that he even has one. I must admit that I believed this one for a while myself. Shame on me :(

I did at first too, mostly because it made sense. A lot of the male characters middle names are their father's first names.

Another rumor is that he would be a vampire. Mostly because of his attire and complexion. Of course, he is not.

Hope they won't change anything regarding Chapter 33 ("The Prince's Tale") !

Well, it's also because Dean Thomas makes a commentaire after it's discovered Remus Lupin was a werewolf that their suivant DADA teacher would be a Vampire.

Supposedly (I'm hoping it's just rumors) they're changing a few things :/ The vampire thing I never understood - I mean, we see him walking in the sunlight a few times and I thought HP vampires can't go out in sunlight.

Even if he were - he will kick Pretty Boy Edward Cullen's ass!

Well...

1) That he's Draco Malfoy's godfather. This, like his middle name being Tobias, is a fanfic invention. Rowling has never indicated such a connection between Snape and the Malfoys.

2) That he's dirty. He's unkempt, yes, but just because his hair is oily ou greasy doesn't mean he's unclean. We've discussed this one elsewhere here.

3) That he has committed murder prior to Dumbledore's request. Bullplop. Certainly he's been present when innocent people have been murdered, clearly he's been involved in some way ou been a reluctant party to it, but as for him actually AK-ing an innocent-it's ludicris. If he *had*, he would not have reacted the way he did when Dumbledore made his request. He wouldn't have been in fear for his soul because his soul would have already been shredded. Now, I'm not saying here that Sev was a saint, just that he was not a murderer. He'd taken credit for murders as part of maintaining his Death Eater cover, and he most certainly tortured/punished fellow Death Eaters at Voldemort's request. I say "request" because I don't think the Dark Lord would have had to force Sev to do it; I think he did it gladly. It has been indicated in canon that other Death Eaters are afraid of him. Even Greyback is. The only one who's not is Bellatrix, but she's not stupid enough to push him very far...

Great answer ! I think that the godfather thing is fanfic invention, yet a plausible one as he seems very close to the boy. I like this idea in fanfic though.

Dirty, no. I always imagine potion making as something that needs precision and cleanliness in order not to mess up potions. I agree with you.

I appreciate that, I really do. I know that "writing it out" works for some people, and I agree, écriture is great therapy sometimes. It's hepled me deal with the deaths of both my parents, and a few other things. Unfortuantely, abuse issues aren't among them. But if that's what works for you, that's what counts. I apologize for sounding acidic earlier.

Well, if they change it so that Snape is at the Hollow that night, they'll be violating canon (not that they care) but I just read this afternoon while browsing Rowling's official site that he wasn't there. If he was, he'd be a rotten SOB because he could have conceivably saved Lily himself.

I've read some pretty messed up stuff about Snape, I could be here a couple of hours ranting about it, and I should be asleep. I'm so tired I couldn't even make sense the first time I typed this so I'll have to complain about it later. :p

Haha! One of that changes that is rumored to be made is that Severus is at Godric's Hollow after Lily and James die, but before everyone else gets there. I don't think he was there the entire time, the way I interpretted it was that he rushed over there to try and save Lily but was too late. But, apparently, a lot of people thought (again) that it meant he was there the entire time.

It would make some sense then...why Severus sounds "like a wounded animal" when he's sitting in Dumbledore's office immediately after, because he was there and actually saw her dead. But then, if that were true, he would have known that Harry had lived, and that passage makes it seem like he doesn't. Of course, his reaction could simply have been because he didn't want to be reminded of the baby. This in turn could be one plus reason Severus had to loathe Harry: if not for Harry's existance, Lily wouldn't have been marked for death. She wouldn't have had to sacrifice herself.
