Chapter Nine
Alice POV
“Alice I am going to die.” Edward murmured.
“No!” I nearly shouted.
“It's unpreventable.” He replied sullenly.
“We don't know that. May – maybe we can reason with these vampires. Persuade them not to kill us.” I suggested.
I replayed the vision in my mind so that Edward could see what I had. He flinched at the part where they kill him.
“They aren't all older vampires. Some are newborns. Didn't toi hear Victoria,” He hissed her name. “When she told Riley that the reason she had made up a army of newborns is because she could tell the newborns that it is their duty to destroy us. If they believe, from what she told them, that we come to harm them they will do whatever they can to protect themselves.”
“Newborns? Isn't that how toi once started? As a bloodthirsty newborn who thought nothing of killing a human to feed that thirst? But that changed didn't it? Here toi sit. Completely in control of the thirst that once ruled you. toi once were exactly like them. A vampire set on killing. But Carsile stopped toi from giving in to the monster within yourself. So maybe Carsile can do the same to these young vampires.
He can offer them a better life. A chance to change for the better. If he can get them to surrender then my vision won't happen.” I a dit confidently.
“I suppose, but...” He trailed off.
“But?” I demanded.
“What if Carisle can't tame them? Alice, what if they decide they don't want a chance to change. If they don't surrender, well we know what will happen then.”
I rolled my eyes. Even if they won't surrender, do toi think we will? No, we will just fight with all we have. toi know, we do have our advantages.
“The only one who has a power in the army is Hayley. She must be, that's why the others have so much respect for her.”
“Hayley has three powers not just one.” He corrected.
“Yes.” I agreed.
“She can read minds.” He stated.
“So can you.”
“She can make anyone she wants fall in l’amour with her.”
I decided to lighten the mood. “So can you.” I repeated.
“Alice, this really is not the time to joke around.” He a dit bitterly.
“I'm not joking. According to Bella toi can. Dazzling I believe she calls it.”
He ignored me. “She also has a shield. A powerful shield that can completely block out both of our powers.” He reminded.
“Well...” I trailed of in thought.
“We still have Emmett and his super strength.” I a dit hopeful.
“Oh yes.” He agreed. A sarcastic edge hinting in his voice. “Emmett the giant teddy bear.”
He started to laugh and soon I joined in.
“Hey! Remember they don't know him, so they don't know he's really a giant teddy bear.” I laughed.
“I guess he is pretty intimidating if toi don't know him. And he really is capable of using his strength whenever necessary.” Edward amended.
Suddenly a knock on the window of the car made me jump. Almost gave me a cœur, coeur attack. Which isn't really the easiest thing to do.
I turned to my window to see...
“Emmett.” I a dit aloud.
He knocked again. “Alice roll down your window.”
I rolled it down. “Hey Em, what do toi want?”
“Why did toi guys,”
“Ahem?” I interrupted.
“I mean, why did toi guy and girl pull over?” He asked.
“Alice had a vision.”
“And this vision, it made toi laugh?” He sounded confused.
“No, no. Why we were laughing is not important now. What's important now is my vision. Go get the others Emmett. We need to tell toi all something.”
