Kamikaze Girls is actually legitimately kind of a solid book with compelling characters that undergo a pretty solid arc and also explores the themes of fashion, subculture, and friendship pretty thoroughly. The plot is a little flimsy and it isn't written very eloquently, but I don't think that was Takemoto's goal.
