I think that when you die, your soul or spirit or whatever you want to call it is re-absorbed into the universe. You're not conscious of anything, that sort of thing is gone forever, but your soul is redistributed into the universe, just as the atoms that make up your body are.
That's just my theory, of course; there's no way to prove what happens to someone's soul after they die, or that anyone even has a soul.
