What do toi think it means?

I complimented the shoes of a guy I like. He a dit thank toi but after that jour he never wore them again. It's been about a mois and a half and now I don't think it's coincidental. He knows I like him so idk what message he is trying to send. But One time he was staring at me and when I caught him, he just kept looking with this blank expression untl I looked away. And anytime he catches me staring, he will keep looking too until I look away. We bearly talk and when we do it's when he asks to borrow stuff from me. And one time when I let him borrow something, he a dit " you're the best" which toi wouldn't say to someone toi know who likes toi unless toi we're trying to turn them on, right? So I'm just getting a bunch of mixed signals. What do toi think this means?

Yeah... people who don't like me like that say "you're the best" to me sometimes. It's actually kind of annoying. xD

Guys sometimes like to lead girls on even when they don't actually like them,or at least that's what I think, and that might be why he was staring at you. Now, don't get me wrong - but if he liked you, wouldn't he have done something once he found out toi liked him... Maybe he just wants to be Friends with toi and that's why he asks toi to borrow stuff and told toi you're the best...So,I guess toi can try asking him to come hang out with toi and your Friends suivant time?

Yeah, it's best to be Friends first, ou so I've heard. So even if they don't end up liking you, toi can still be friends, which isn't a bad thing.
