Is cosplay expensive?

I've been wanting to cosplay for a while, and ive recently gotten plus into the Homestuck fandom than i was before. So i've been thinking about Cosplaying as Vriska, but i want to know how expensive it would be for a good cosplay? :L Im really bad at stuff like calculating the cost of it, so i was wondering would it be expensive?

Figure out what toi can craft on your own, and what toi absolutely must buy. boutique around at thrift stores for things that look similar to what toi need and make adjustments. It won't be perfect, but it will cost much less than buying a pre-made costume online.

This sort of tactic would probably be best for a Homestuck cosplay, anyway. The priciest thing you'll be perchasing is probably either a wig ou contacts, and those can be bought cheaply if toi know where to look.

So yes, cosplay can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be.

If toi were to cosplay homestuck, I would think toi would spend less than 30 to 40 dollars for a good cosplay per say.

toi got your body paint
styrofoam for the horns (styrofoam optional)
eye contact lenses
teeth
wig
clothes (I suggest looking through the thrift store first)
accessories

hmm I think that's all
just think how toi can find them and how much would they cost.

(I've been looking into doing a fem-sherlock cosplay, but i don't think I can due to lack of money)

Ah, that is true. But yes, from what ive heard its expensive so i probably wont be able to coplay because i have no monies ~

But toi could maybe buy bits and pieces for your cosplay when toi have they money? It would take longer, but it might be a little easier on your budget
