You've never imagined a life away from the lab. Experiments, electric nodes, drugs, exhaustion, it was all part of your daily routine. You've never known anything else. That wasn't all in your life, though. You were each given rooms and one friend, the one who you've lived in the same room with your entire life. You were given enough food to satiate your hunger, when they didn't need you to be hungry for an experiment, of course. Sometimes your friend would get hurt, sometimes it would be you. Sometimes you could hear screams from the labs, or the whimpering of one of the younger experiments having another nightmare. You've never really had any happy times to have dreams about. Only the experiments.

You weren't completely oblivious to the world, however. There were lessons--detailed lessons on anything the outside world had to offer. Geography, Mythology, Weaponry, Drawing, Acting, Astronomy, Politics. They told you that you were smarter than anyone out there, but how could you know? You've never been out there. The guards keep you from leaving, and anyone who's ever tried is captured and experimented on to the brink of death.

Maybe it was time for someone to succeed in escaping. That would change everything.
