I always had at least one OC growing up, even before I saw the first episode. xD I kept changing her over time, but some overarching themes stayed.

Now called Akane, she always had long dark brown hair and a fiery, competitive personality. She grew up in an orphanage in Viridian City because her dad was too busy traveling the world as a Pokémon trainer to check in after her mom died, walked over to Professor Oak after turning ten, chose Charmander (of course), and traveled Kanto. She loves Pokémon dearly (almost as a substitute for the love she didn't get growing up)and will smother her "babies" with violent cuddles and praise. ("YOU ARE SO CUTE! I COULD JUST EAT YOU UP!") Her main strategy was always to catch cute little Pokémon, then train them right into fearsome "Titans" and "Champions." (Ex: Charmander -> Charizard, Magikarp -> Gyaradose, Larvatar -> Tyranitar)

Because I was a fan of Outlaw Star as a kid, I eventually imagined she traveled with the Pokémon equivalent of James "Jim" Hawking (link). Like in that show, he's a computer and techno wiz that is fascinated by Pokémon technology and "man-made" Pokémon. (Voltorb/Electrode, Magnemite/Magneton, the Porygon line, etc.) In this world, I imagined he was a descendent of a top scinetist at Silph Co. Part of the reason they met was he wanted to go out to see, test, and alter Pokémon technology (Pokeballs, TMs, HMs, etc.) in action.

Calm, logical, and responsible, I imagine he made a good balance to my hot-blooded fighter. I imagine he made most of the practical (boring) plans and strategies while she decided where they traveled and which gyms and tournaments they visited. Hot versus cold, impulsive versus logical, nature-loving versus technologically inclined, I imagine they were complete opposites but learned to find common ground, trust, and learn from each other over time.

Meh, I was just thinking about this today and wanted to get it out of my system.
