Lilian received a call from Gideon. She asked, "How have toi been?" He said, "I'm afraid I have some bad news." She asked, "What is it?" He said, "I'm very sick." She said, "But you're going to get better. Right?" He said, "It's cancer. I'm receiving treatments, and I'm going to try to beat this." She said, "I know toi can do it. You're Rebelle and strong." After months of treatment, Gideon became weak. He called Lilian and said, "I want to see toi one last time." He told her his new address. She made it to his new home. He was lying in his bed. He was very weak, but he was happy to see his friend. He said, "Please come closer." Lilian made her way to her friend. She held his hand and said, "I don't want toi to go." He said, "I know, but I couldn't beat this disease." She said, "But you're the mighty warrior." He said, "Sometimes the stronger the spirit, the greater the suffering. I need toi to stay strong, Lilian. You've got Clive now. Biff and his gang aren't going to stop bullying him." She said, "I know, Gideon. I'll be strong for you." He said, "I'm glad I had the honor of being your friend. You're a great kid, Lilian." He then closed his eyes, never to open them again. Lilian wept like she never wept before. Despite her great l’amour for Gideon, she did not attend his funeral. She just couldn't. She held her dog, Lucky, in her arms that night and cried herself to sleep.
