Months had passed, and Erin was getting ready to start high school. She was a bit nervous, considering she was among the youngest in her grade. Her brother, Daniel, said, "You don't have to be scared. I'll be there." She said, "Thanks, Daniel. My Friends will be there, too. It's good that I'll be seeing familiar faces." He said, "There toi go. toi won't be alone." Her first jour wasn't so great. In her first class, one of her classmates put a kick me sign on her back. Luckily, when she left, her friend, Paul, noticed it and took it off. She asked, "What's going on, Paul?" He said, "This." He showed her the kick me sign. She said, "Thanks, Paul." He said, "You're welcome, Erin." Later, some of the populaire girls kept calling her ugly. She tried to ignore them, but she was deeply sensitive. She pretended she needed to use the restroom so that she could be alone to cry. A few moments later, she heard her friend Allie say, "Erin, you've been in here a long time. Are toi okay?" Erin said, "I'm fine." Allie said, "You're crying. I know you're not. Come out and tell me what's wrong." Erin came out and said, "I'm having a bad day. High school sucks already." Allie hugged her and said, "The day's not over yet. Maybe it will turn good." Erin smiled and said, "I guess you're right." Allie said, "There's a smile. Now let's get back out there." Unfortunately, Erin's jour did not turn good. At the end of the day, Erin tripped over her own feet and fell down. Everyone around her laughed. One of the populaire girls said, "Oh, my God! Did toi just fall?" Erin a dit sarcastically, "No, I thought the floor needed a hug!" Another one of the populaire girls said, "She's like the mayor of Klutzville. She like literally tripped over nothing." The populaire girls continued to laugh. Another one said, "That was funny. Did toi think it was funny, Erin?" Erin a dit sarcastically, "That was so funny I forgot to laugh." They left her lying on the floor alone. She began to cry. She then heard someone shouting. "Erin! Erin!" It was Paul. She looked up. He asked, "Are toi all right? What happened?" She said, "I tripped over my own feet, and I fell down. The populaire girls made fun of me." He said, "That's just absurd! Even if they aren't your friends, they should still ask if you're okay just out of human kindness!" He helped her up. She said, "Thanks." He said, "You're welcome. Are toi okay now?" She said, "Yeah, I think so." When she got home, she told her aunt and uncle about her day. Her aunt said, "I'm sorry toi had a bad day, Erin. Don't get discouraged, though. The seconde jour is never as bad as the first." Erin went back the suivant day. Her aunt was right. The seconde jour was a good day. Erin knew she would make it through with a little help from her friends. At the end of the day, she walked out with her Friends chant the Beatles song, "With a Little Help From My Friends". The populaire girls made fun of them, but they didn't care. They had each other. Who needs populaire girls anyway? They're nothing but a bunch of preppy bitches.

At first, Paul got no answer. He heard some funny gasping, choking noises coming from inside Hank's bedroom. "Hank? It's me, Paul. I know you're in there."
More gulps for air, and then, "Okay. Come in."
Paul opened the door and stepped into his brother's room, which was full of model cars, posters of athletes and action movies, and lots of football gear. Hank sat on his bed, head downcast, looking plus forlorn than Paul had seen him in a long time. He was gasping for breath and blinking hard, and Paul realized his brother was trying very hard not to cry.
"You know, if toi need to let it out,"...

Once again, Hank requested to let Paul go first. Paul looked back at Hank. Hank tried to hide how stressed he was and said, "Good luck, Paul." Paul said, "Thanks, Hank." Pretty soon, Paul began his test. He took a deep breath and thought, Don't overthink this. Just remember what Dad taught you. Once he completed the test, the instructor said, "Nicely done, Paul. toi have passed with flying colors." Paul returned to Hank and his mother. Paul...

"Hey, future drivers!" Paul and Hank's father approached them after dîner that night, jingling the car keys in his hands. "Who wants to come along and do a little practising?"
Paul, who had been lire a musique magazine on the couch, and Hank, who had been watching a movie with a lot of explosions on the TV nearby, both sat up. "I do!"
Soon, the three of them sat in the car in a mostly empty parking lot. "Who's going first?" their dad asked.
"Let Paul go first." This answer surprised Paul. Normally his brother was plus than eager to be first at everything.
"You feeling okay, buddy?" Their father...

He said, "I'm thinking either a sports car ou maybe one of those muscle cars like my grandpa used to collect." The seconde one of his Friends said, "That's cool. You'll look so tough in it." Once the talent montrer ended, it was time to announce the winner. Paul waited anxiously backstage with the rest of the contestants. Just then, he heard his name being called. He had won the talent show. He came back to the stage and received his trophy. The other contestants shook his hand and congratulated him. Just then, he saw Hank running to meet him. Hank said, "Congratulations, Paul! I knew toi could do it." Paul said, "Thanks, Hank, for everything." The two brothers hugged. Hank then said, "Let's go find mother and father. We should celebrate." Paul said, "I'd like that." Once they found...

Paul peeked out from behind the curtain backstage and took a deep breath. From this angle, he couldn't tell if Hank was in the audience ou not, though the knew his brother was out there. His guitare felt heavy hanging from his shoulder, and Paul patted it. He had been going over his new song all day, and he was as ready as he was going to be.
"Paul?" The backstage manager was talking to him. "You're up next, as soon as this group finishes performing."
Paul nodded, trying not to be too shaky. "I'm ready."
He heard the group that was performing finish, and cheers rose from the audience. They were...

As Paul started feeling better (both physically and emotionally), he finally finished écriture his new song. One day, as he was practicing his song, he heard a knock on the door. He said, "Come in." It was Hank. He had come accueil from football practice and had heard Paul chant and playing the guitar. Hank smiled and said, "Your song is great, Paul!" Paul smiled and said, "Thank you. There's a talent montrer coming up this weekend." Hank said, "That's cool. Are toi going to be performing it there?" Paul said, "Yes." His smile soon faded. Hank asked, "What's wrong?" Paul said, "You wouldn't understand."...

Paul woke up with the strange feeling that he wasn't alone. As he opened his eyes and stared around his room groggily, he saw Hank, sitting quietly par his lit and watching him. He looked anxious, but the seconde he saw Paul's eyes on him, he hitched on a grin. "Nice of toi to montrer yourself, Paul."
"Right, Hank." Paul couldn't help smiling a little himself. He tried to push himself up into a seated position, and found he wasn't quite too sore to manage it. "How'd the tryouts go?"
Hank's grin turned briefly into a real one. "I'll make the team again for sure." His smile faded. "I just hope I make...

As the first jour of school continued on, Paul still felt alone. At lunch time, he sat with his friends, but their company did not help. He came to the realization that this was the first an he did not wish Hank luck for the football tryouts. This made Paul feel very sad. He thought about going up to Hank to talk to him, but Hank was sitting with his friends. Paul knew they'd beat him up. After lunch, Paul went to his locker. A few minutes later, he heard a commotion. It sounded like Hank, and he seemed to be in distress. Paul had to see what was wrong. The three bullies from earlier were...

In the past, whenever a new school an started Paul and Hank would ride the bus together, excitedly speculating what might happen this year. Paul would listen to Hank happily anticipating the football games he would play with his Friends at recess, and later his hopes and fears about whether he would make the football team. Hank would playfully talk as though Paul's musique and jouer la comédie had already made him a successful star.
Today, Paul sat on the bus alone - ou rather, he felt alone, as two of his Friends from last year's drama club sat on either side of him talking about what play the school...

Pretty soon, Paul got tired of just sitting in his bedroom. He decided to go for a walk through the neighborhood. He went up the colline that overlooked the neighborhood. It was where he liked to go if he felt the need to cry. It was a place he could cry where no one would hear him. He often cried because he felt as if he had Lost his best friend. He missed the days when he and Hank were close. Paul used to could confide in Hank without judgment, and now, Hank would accuse him of being "too emotional" and "weak". Hank's new Friends were such jerks. Paul's Friends were all right, but they didn't...

Paul sat on his lit strumming his guitar, wavy dark blond hair falling into his eyes as he frowned in concentration. He was trying to figure out the opening riff for a new song he was writing, and he hadn't gotten it quite right yet.
"One, two, one, two!" The sounds of counting and pounding footsteps from the suivant room distracted him. His brother Hank was practising his training regimen again, pounding away and shaking the entire floor of their house. Paul sat up and sighed. He couldn't concentrate like this.
And he knew it wasn't really Hank's training regimen that was making it impossible for...

On the last jour of their honeymoon, Una and Everett put on their raincoats and headed out after breakfast. It was still raining some, but they didn't care. They enjoyed splashing in the puddles. After splashing around for a few hours, they decided to go back to their hotel room to freshen up for lunch. As they ate their lunch, Una said, "That was a lot of fun." Everett said, "Yes, it was. I'm glad we didn't let all the rain wreck our fun." She said, "I'm glad about that too." After lunch, they relaxed in their hotel room for a while. Afterwards, they went swimming one plus time. Later, they...

The suivant few days were spent in any number of spontaneous activities. While the rain poured down outside, Everett and Una did an impromptu dance party in their hotel room, and they sang their favourite songs and invented crazy moves and Everett picked up Una and spun her around as their grand finale.
They frequented the buffet. It turned out the hotel had an all-day buffet, and very few people were using it when it wasn't officially mealtime. They enjoyed sampling all the snacks and Una discovered a new favourite key citron vert tart. One time at the buffet, Una and Everett even struck up a conversation...

Once Una and Everett finished jouer la comédie out their story, they relaxed in their fort for a bit. Una said, "Thank toi for this, Everett. This brought back a lot of memories." He smiled and said, "I should be thanking you." She asked, "What do toi mean?" He said, "You helped me let loose and have fun. This is the most fun I've had in a long time." She said, "That's why it's important to embrace your inner child." He said, "I think so. Speaking of embracing your inner child, we should go out for pizza, and afterwards, we should get some ice cream." She said, "That sounds like a plan to me." They did...

Within the half-hour, the fort was complete. Una and Everett had draped a blanket over two chairs they had pushed together, and used pillows and wadded-up sheets for extra coziness. The whole thing took longer than it might have, because Una threw a oreiller at Everett and started a oreiller fight.
Finally, the fort was up, and they sat under it on some folded sheets, Una flopped down and laughing, Everett sitting up beside her and laughing too.
"Let's tell stories," Una said.
"Okay," Everett agreed readily. "There's a good one from a short movie I've been practising editing in film school."
So Everett...

As it rained, Una said, "It's a good thing I brought an umbrella. We'll just stay under it until the rain..." before she could say anything else, some lightning flashed around them. She said, "Let's get out of here!" Una and Everett made it safely back to the hotel room. Once they caught their breath, Everett said, "I'm exhausted." Una said, "I am too. Let's take a nap. Maybe the storm will pass during that time." With that, they took a long nap. When they woke up, Everett looked out the window. Una asked, "Did it pass?" He said, "Nope. It's still raining." She said, "Aw, it didn't pass." He...

"Let's go swimming today," Una a dit as they sat down. "I can't wait to see the beach!"
"It looks a bit cloudy," Everett pointed out, glancing uneasily at the sky. "Maybe we should plan an indoor activity for today. We could probably reach a shopping centre before the...

The big jour finally arrived. The wedding venue was decorated in teal. As Una was getting dressed, her mother knocked on the door. Una said, "Come in."
