I wrote this at the end of season five as a first draft for en english assignement... don't worry, I didn't hand this one in (wrote a ridiculously scathing rapporter on American Idol instead... got an A*), but I thought toi might like to read this... have a bit of a laugh.

What do toi need to make an awesome teen drama? The first thing would probably be a bunch of teenagers, right? Well that's the thing that One arbre colline Lost when Mark Schwann, creator of One arbre colline announced that in it's fifth season par skipping college and going four years into the future. In theory it sounded like a good idea. We all remember how bad Dawsons Creek and 90210 sucked when they went into college. Plus, it'd be like watching Season 1 with different storylines, right? So wrong. The season started out with great potential. So much so that after the first few episodes, I named Season Five as one of the best seasons. Ironically enough, that's when it really started to go downhill.

Last Season, we left off on a happy note. Lucas
and Peyton were together and happier than ever. Married in high school couple Nathan and Haley had just donné birth to their son, James Lucas Scott and were also buzzing with excitement while Brooke Davis had just been donné an offer for her to sell her clothing line at Victoria's Secret. The “fab five” parted their ways, but four years later, they all returned to their accueil town, arbre Hill, North Carolina.

Storyline wise, it was pretty good. The season started off with Nathan Scott having his dream of playing professional basketball, basket-ball crushed right in front of his eyes, and for the past four months, he's suck into a spiral of depression having to live in a wheelchair. His son, the adorable Jamie Scott, is watching his idol crumble before his eyes while the only thing Nathan depends on is alcohol. Sounds exciting right? Well, it was for about two episodes. Then they got bored of pathetic drama-hating fans complaining about Nathan looking like Jesus, so they gave him a hair cut and added another plot device, which
also happened to be another third party – A slutty nanny. Seriously Mark! toi can do better than that! Over the past few years, Schwann has created some of the most sophisticated, complex storylines, making One arbre colline much plus than your average teen drama. But recently, his storylines have been lacking, and the characters have grown up much to quickly. I doubt anyone would want to have the sudden craving to adopt a child at the age of twenty two.

Ontop of the ridiculous Nanny storyline, we have yet another third party in the way of the perfect relationship. First it was Nathan, then it was Brooke, Nikki came next, and then it was Jake, then it was Brooke (again) and now, the one thing standing in between Lucas and Peyton is Lindsey Strauss, Lucas's editor. Despite the fact that the fans are tired of the Leyton l’amour triangle, and that Lucas and Lindsey have less chemistry then Leyton have in their little fingers, Schwann insisted on keeping her around for the entire season. And he plans on keeping her around for season six. Schwann has recently started jouer la comédie like one of those teenage girls who insist on on everyone liking them, and is planning to “cater” for the Lucas and Lindsey fans. All eight of them. Seriously Mark, their names don't even ship! Lukesey? Lindcas? They don't roll off the tongue! I have yet to find one Lindcas fan who genuinely ships them, and not to keep Leyton away.

But it's bad enough he decided to pair Lucas with “man face Lindsey” but she is just one of the irrelevant, pointless new characters to be introduced this season. In total twelve new characters were added this season, only five on them bore any relavance to the plot. Out of those five, two of them were likeable (even though Mia, Peyton's new recording artist Lost all likeability factors when she decided to sing, and ruin, Jeff Buckley), and they've both left the montrer now, probably returning for season six.

So, how can Mark fix it? Well, as an avid fan since season one, I think I can answer that. First and foremost, bring back the Lost spark. Season Three was named the best season, not only because of it's clever storylines, but because of it's group interaction and witty dialouge. Gone
are the days when they used to talk about musique and fashion, and anything to make them sound like real people. Now all they talk about is dreams, and following their hearts. As well as removing all the new characters (apart from Owen, Mia and Jamie), if the montrer can be restored to it's roots – a teen drama as opposed to a family drama – then things are looking up for the sixth and final season. If they don't do that, then Schwann can Kiss goodbye to his seven seasons dream.
