Even with months of advanced warning, some minor therapy and and various gigs in between to soften the blow, we still haven\'t quite come to terms with the fact that One Direction are soon to be going on a break which could last MULTIPLE YEARS.

Until their return, we\'ll be walking around the office in circles and mumbling the lyrics to \'Back For You\' for reassurance, but the fateful day looms ever closer as the boys took to the stage for their final US performance this weekend.

Friday saw 1D hit the Jingle Ball in LA, and things got pretty emotional as they told the crowd how it felt to know that it was officially their last American gig before the big hiatus. Someone hold us.

The iHeartRadio Jingle Ball at the Staples Center was a special one for Harreh, Loueh, Niyull and Leeyum, not only because it was more festive than your average Christmas pud, but because they were feeling ALL the feels about saying "So long".

Speaking to the crowd at the show, Liam said: "To be honest with you, this show is kind of an important onef or us. This is going to bet he last time for a little while. I feel myself getting emotional."

While we sobbed a small pond over the whole thing, the boys managed to keep it together for the set, but not without trying to extract as man tears from you as possible.

"This is the song that made our American dreams come true," Liam told fans in the audience, finishing the set by promising: "We will see you very soon."

Don\'t start snotting all over yourself quite yet though because, while this is slightly traumatic and a glimpse of dark, 1D-less times ahead, you have still quite quite a few appearances to look forward to before the boys go off into hibernation.
