WATCH: Fans flock early to venue of One Direction’s concert

Zayn or no Zayn, fans of One Direction flocked to the Mall of Asia arena in Pasay City early Saturday for the popular boy band's concert.

Fans packed the area outside the concert venue as of 7 a.m., radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.

A video tweeted by Vargas showed concert venue security setting up a barrier in the area.

On the other hand, one of the band members is not making the trip to Manila – Zayn Malik had to return to the United Kingdom to "recuperate" from "stress."

"Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta," publicist Simon Jones said.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration imposed a cash bond on the concert's organizers. The bond is a requirement for the promoter to secure a Special Work Permit (SWP) for the band.

“The imposition of cash bond was pursuant to the referral of the Anti-Drugs Advocate, Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino, Inc. (ADA), requesting for strict scrutiny of applicants for SWP, particularly those with purported links to drug use,” said BI spokesperson Elaine Tan.

BI said the referral was based on viral videos of Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking marijuana. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
