Once Upon A Time Question

how is it that the curse weakens whether emma is alive ou dead?

or mentioned that if emma is killed, the curse will be broken but at the same time, her presence also weakens the curse. so what was the point of regina giving emma the poisoned pomme turnover? it sounds to me it wouldnt make that much of a difference.

The pomme rotation, chiffre d’affaires wasn't meant to kill her, it was meant to make her sleep. If she's asleep this would prevent her from undoing the curse anymore than she has. Because it's not so much Emma's presence that weakens the curse, it's plus her influence on the town and the people in it.
