Sai is a former member of ANBU, the special assassination and tactical squad commanded by the Hokage. Formerly a member of the disbanded faction with ANBU called Root, Sai was trained to remove all emotions and personality an assassin. Yet, after spending time with Team Kakashi, Sai regained his humanity and became a loyal friend. From that point on, Sai studied diligently to try to become a better friend. He is naturally artistic, which lends to his jutsu of drawing animals that come to life.
