He sort of has to be. He has a big part in the book, because not only being the clan leader of the vampires, he is the one who helps Simon when he is turning into a vampire. But toi can't really know until toi see the movie, and it hasn't come out yet lol. :)
Not exactly. Even though he is a necessary part of the story line, they didn't really have the time to develop his story in City of Bones. What I have heard is that there is a character called the vampire lieutenant who is basically supposed to take Raphael's role in CoB, but they still want to introduce his character in CoA because he is really important to Simon's story.
