His interested of weather led Matt to the université of Missouri in Columbia, MO, He studied meteorology there beginning in 1995, earning his bachelor of science degree in Soil & Atmospheric Science in 1999, along with a minor in mathematics, He remained at Mizzou in two years working toward a master's degree.
Between classes, Matt cut his broadcasting teeth as a weathercaster and meteorologist at KOMU-TV 8 in Columbia, MO, That led to his first time meteorology job, morning meteorologist at KRCG-TV 13 in Jefferson City, MO, Matt left mid missouri in 2005, Where he jumped to KMOV-TV in St. Louis, MO.
In addition of serving as a Morning Meteorologist on Awake with News 4, Matt joined Great jour St. Louis in 2009 as a co-host with Carol Daniel, Kent Ehrhardt & Virginia Kerr every weekday mornings at 10:00 am, This was an entirely new adventure for him.
