I am écriture this letter to the New York Senate. Could toi help me éditer it ou give any advice? Do toi think I was too rude about it? Thank you.

Here is the letter:

To the New York Senate,

I am completely and utterly ashamed that toi have voted down the same-sex-marriage bill on December 2nd of 2009. It is not only unjust, it is not only morally wrong, and it is not only discrimination against a minority just because they are slightly different. It goes against several laws and rights of the United States of America.

par denying same-sex-marriage, toi are not only denying these couples a titre of “Mr” and “Mrs”. Did toi know that there are 1,300 rights that come with marriage that toi are denying these people? Some of these rights include the right to see their loved one on his ou her deathbed, health benefits gained in marriage and the right to take family leave so that toi may care for your partner if he ou she has an illness. In case toi are unaware, there is a line in the Pledge of Allegiance that says “With liberty and justice for all.” Do we really have liberty and justice for all if we are to continue denying homosexuals these basic rights which we all deserve?

Perhaps toi are denying them the right to marry for religious purposes. What religion is it that prohibits same-sex-marriage? It is Christianity, correct? I can automatically think of two things that are wrong with this. The first one should be obvious, it is a little thing called Separation of Church and State. If your reasoning is for religious purposes, it goes against Separation of Church and State. The other thing wrong with this is the following: What if toi are not Christian? What if toi are Jewish ou Muslim ou any other religion? Does this mean that toi do not have to follow this law? I do not believe this is the case. Therefore, it goes against the very first Amendment in the US Constitution (Bill of Rights); Freedom of Religion. This makes your law unconstitutional.

What other reason could there be to prohibit this bill from being passed? Any personal discriminative ideas should be put aside when toi are making decisions for everyone in New York State. If toi personally are homophobic, toi must remember that this does not mean that everybody is homophobic. toi are making laws for the benefit of everyone, not for the benefit of yourself alone. I am a person who is very much into theater, so naturally I know a lot of people who are not strait. This may come as a major shock to many of you, but many of the homosexual people that I know are much better people than some of the strait people that I know. I am not saying all homosexual people are amazing people, nor am I saying all strait people are bad people. I am saying that we are equal, and therefore we should have equal rights. Thomas Jefferson did say “All men are created equal.”

Today, we look back to the days when people of the United States would discriminate against “black” people, and the majority of us are disgusted par our behavior. We look back at the times when women were discriminated against just because they were women, and many of us find it hard to believe we were so closed minded at a time not so long ago. When will we open our minds enough to see that these people deserve these rights just as much as anyone does? When will we complete our journey to truly make this a land where there is “liberty and justice for all”?

(I left out my signature for safety reasons. I'll include it in the real letter)

Thank you!

Lately on Fanpop, I've been noticing a lot of people wondering if they are gay ou bisexual, in particular. They ask if certain behaviors ou feelings they have make them gay ou bi.

But really, asking other people to tell toi whether ou not toi are gay ou straight is nearly impossible. They can't be inside your head and go through what toi do every day. It's up to toi to figure that out on your own!

If that leaves toi feeling overwhelmed, don't panic! Sexuality is an exciting and often confusing journey, only to be uncovered par you! If I've learned anything from going through years feeling straight,...
