Simon Cowell has signed a 21-year-old singer to his record label - the first artist in six years who has not come from one of his TV shows.
Cowell this week handed Labrinth, who also works as a writer and producer, a lucrative deal with his label, Syco.
In addition, The X Factor boss has also asked him to help discover and nurture new talent.
