That is an excerpt from the vers l'avant, vers l’avant provided par Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for the official Lost Encyclopedia. I happen to own that glorious book and I thought I'd take a minute and share with toi the highlights for us Jaters.

Aware of the chemistry Kate also shared with Sawyer, Jack often used his medical skills to gain the upperhand. He coerced Sawyer into returning Kate's Halliburton case par threatening to stop giving Sawyer the antibiotic for the infection in his arm wound.

Their subsequent rescue changed everything. As part of the Oceanic Six, Jack, Kate, and Aaron became a family. But their engagement and happiness were short-lived. When Jack learned that Claire was his half-sister, his guilt over leaving Claire on the island and watching Kate raise Aaron overwhelmed him. Jack became jealous of Kate and her secretive phone calls. He became convinced she was having an affair and a similar pattern of behavior he exhibited with Sarah began to repeat itself with Kate.
He got the woman he loved safely off the island.
Returning to the island, Jack left their relationship in the hands of fate. Ultimately, they declared their mutual l’amour before they parted for a final time. Jack's last thought was that he did what he promised: He got the woman he loved safely off the island.

Initially, Juliet and Kate were simply rivals for Jack's affections. Juliet didn't mince words when she told Kate the harsh truth about what her actions with Sawyer had done to Jack. Kate continued her hostility until Juliet performed an appendectomy on Jack. Juliet laid down her own laurier, laurel leaf when she admitted to Kate that Jack was not in l’amour with her.
