(The Kiss scene)
Cuddy is locked away in her office; the baby survived but the mother decides to keep her. Cuddy being the woman that she is thinks it is the mothers right to do this, but is still upset at the outcome of this long and laborious situation.
Packing away the baby clothes she bought into a box, she hears a knock at the door. All the blinds in the room are shut leaving her in a dimly lit room facing her bureau packing the clothes away into a box; to give to the woman before she is discharged.
(Knock-Knock)
Cuddy: Busy.
(Knock-Knock)
Cuddy: I don’t want to see anyone.
(The door opens. House breaks in par fiddling with the lock.)
(Cuddy is still facing away from the door throughout the conversation.)
House: Like a door can stop me.
Cuddy: (gasps) Please just, just leave.
House: I heard, Wilson told. toi did a good job.
Cuddy: Yeah, I saved them both. (Wipes away a tear) she’s going to be fine.
(Continues packing away baby clothes.)
House: Good--- Are toi leaving?
Cuddy: No.
(House walks towards her whilst she wipes away another tear.)
(House hangs his cane on the bureau ridge suivant to her, and turns her around to face him, with Cuddy still looking away from him.)
House: Look at me.
(Cuddy reluctantly looks at house.)
House: (empathising) Tears of joy?
Cuddy: The woman, she err, she decided to keep her-the baby.
(House looks behind Cuddy at the box filled with bright coloured baby clothes, and an old teddy ours at the side of it.)
House: I’m sorry.
Cuddy: Thanks, but it doesn’t matter anyway. I’m so busy with work; I couldn’t possibly take care of a kid. I’m just not meant to have a family.
House: I’m here, if toi need to, toi know. Talk.
(Cuddy turns back and carries on packing. Making herself busy.)
(House looks caught up in what he should say/do.)
(Cuddy picks up the box and walks towards the door.)
House: What did she call the kid?
(Cuddy looks down and then looks at him.)
Cuddy: Joy.
(Cuddy opens the door and leaves to give the box to the mother.)
(House leans on his cane, and looks down at the ground. Tormented with what to do.)
musique Interlude.
We see the mother leaving in a wheel chair with the baby in her arms, smiling. Then we see Cuddy watching from the balcony, clearly distressed but with closure. That she will probably never experience motherhood.
We end up at House’s accueil were he is in his Pyjamas drinking a small glass of whisky. There is an empty glass suivant to the bottle, like he suspects he might get a visitor. Then there is a knock at the door. House hangs his cane on the mur above, before answering it.
Cuddy: I do need you.
(House widens the door to let her in and House and Cuddy kiss. House reaches for his cane, mid-kiss and closes the door with it. Slowly.)
