Chapter 3: The Accident
Saturday morning arrived and Dr. Hadley/Thirteen decided to go for a drive after a sleepless night. It can’t be true Dr. House and Dr. Cuddy two doctors who she admires and respects can’t be her parents it’s just not possible she thought to herself. She drove for about an heure and was on her way accueil when suddenly a truck ran a red light and struck her car on the driver’s side. Thirteen was pinned inside her car and all of the Bones on her left side were crushed she had a punctured lung and a ruptured spleen. She needed immediate medical attention ou she could die. A witness to the wreck called 911 and Dr. Hadley was rushed to the E.R. at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. When she arrived Dr. Cameron immediately called Dr. Cuddy to let her know her employee had been injured and was in critical condition. Meanwhile Thirteen was transferred to ICU after intensive surgery to remove her spleen and to repair most of the broken Bones and punctured lung. Dr. Cuddy arrived at the hospital a few hours later and asked what room Dr. Hadley was in.
“What room is Dr. Remy Hadley in? She was brought in about three hours ago. What is her current condition?” Cuddy asked the first available E.R. nurse.
“She was transferred to ICU-2 and her condition is confidential.”
“I’m her boss I have the right to know what is going on with my employee.”
“Right I’m sorry Dr. Cuddy I’m new to the hospital she is in critical condition and had several surgeries to repair Bones and a punctured lung but she is still in critical condition.”
“Thank you.”
Cuddy took the first available elevator to ICU and prayed her daughter was okay while she fought back tears. Reaching the ICU floor she dried her eyes and rushed to Thirteen’s room. She was unconscious and hooked up to a ventilator. Cuddy learned from her chart that she also suffered a severe concussion along with the broken Bones and punctured lung. She also learned that she needed a blood transfusion and had Lost her spleen. Her blood type had a rare phenotype one which Cuddy thought might match hers as her blood type was rare also. She called House and asked him to come and be tested as well and explained to him what had happened.
“House Thirteen was in a car accident and needs a blood transfusion toi need to come up here and get tested to see if toi can be a donor.”
“Cuddy, are toi okay?”
“No I’m worried sick about her. God House she was so upset I hope we didn’t cause this!”
“What did the accident rapporter say? Was she drinking and driving did she run a red light?”
“No a truck ran a red light and struck the drivers side of her car she was pinned in. They had to use the Jaws of Life to get her out. She’s stable now but still in critical condition. I’m so worried House what if she has brain damage?”
“Cuddy it wasn’t our fault ou Thirteen’s it was some stupid truck drivers fault. She’s a strong woman she’s going to make it don’t worry.”
“House, she’s my daughter and employee of course I’m going to worry!”
“Right I only meant she is going to be okay, don’t stress. Where do we get tested for the blood donation?”
“Go ahead and talk to her nurse I’m going to go and visit her while toi are getting tested.”
House went over to talk to Thirteen’s nurse and Cuddy slipped in to her room. Cuddy walked over and pulled a chair up beside her lit and held Thirteen’s hand.
“Hey sweetheart I’m here its Dr. Cuddy ou your mom! I’ll be here until toi are well. God I’m so happy you’re alive toi were in a bad accident. I have so much I still need to tell toi and how much I regret giving toi up. I’m here now though and toi are going to be okay. Hang in there.”
A nurse in her early forties with brown curly hair walked in and told Dr. Cuddy it was time for her blood to be tested.
“Thank toi Nancy I know I will be a match I have a gut feeling.”
“Dr. Cuddy it’s probable that the only person who is a blood match will be a family member she has a rare phenotype that only a family member can match have her parent’s been informed of the accident?”
“Nancy can I tell toi something in confidence?”
“Of course what is it?”
“I am her biological mother and House is her biological father was he a match?”
“Well… no, no he wasn’t. Dr. Cuddy toi and Dr. House were together?”
“Yes it was a long time il y a and is not relevant so please no questions. I will be a match she must have my blood type mine is rare as well. I’m going to save her life. Get me ready for the transfusion I know I will be a match.”
Nancy took Cuddy into another room and drew seven pints of blood to put into Thirteen to begin with and then had Cuddy drink some jus, jus de to stay hydrated.
“You are a match Dr. Cuddy your blood will save her life. We will do the transfusion immediately.”
“Thanks Nancy can I go back in there with her?”
“Sure go be with your daughter and don’t worry your secret is sûr, sans danger with me.”
Cuddy walked back into Thirteen’s room after the transfusion and sat beside her bad like before. She reached out and held Thirteen’s hand.
“Hey Remy its Lisa again you’re going to be okay. toi are so strong toi have survived a lot you’re a fighter. I can tell. I hope when toi wake up toi can forgive me and we can have some sort of relationship. I want nothing plus than to be your mom and to be there for toi when ever toi need me. I’ll be with toi every step of the way from now on. It might sound a bit silly but I … I l’amour you. Hang in there sweetheart.”
House came in to her room and asked how she was doing.
“How is she?”
“She’ll be okay I was a match and after she regains consciousness she’ll be alright ou well relatively. There will still be the fact that she doesn’t want us as her parents but like toi a dit hopefully she will come around. God, House can toi believe we made her? She’s so beautiful and so smart. I only want to spend the rest of my life being her mom and being there for her whenever she needs me. It’s amazing I’ve wanted to have a baby for so long and now the child I gave a way so long il y a is back in my life. Not what I expected but I’m so happy she is here. She has to forgive me!”
“She is gorgeous just like her mom and she got her smarts and quick wit from me!”
“Hey I’m smart and funny too!”
“Yeah, toi are she just got lucky, good genes but we can’t take credit for the way she turned out that honor goes to Tom and Carol Hadley.”
Noticing the blinds were drawn shut House went and wrapped his arms around Cuddy as she stood par Thirteen’s side.
