i was just thinking, they should do a what if episode like in friends. they could make it that ted and robin stayed together, lily and marshal split apart for good, and barney was gay! that would be quite funny. you could have neil patrick harris's real life partner on the show :P

I think we already had quite a few "What If" epis. Think about "The Front Porch" or "Bagpipes". Sure, it involved only a few scenes. The narration style allows the show to do as many "What ifs". Though your idea would be interesting...

Neil Patrick Harris' real life partner is already on the show. It's Scooter, Lily's high school boyfriend.

I don't really like to take things from Friends. I think HIMYM has already done that with things like the musical number and guest stars. I would prefer another episode with a flashforward/flashback. Pretentious Ted FTW.
P.s. I still loved that Friends episode though. Married Rachel was funny =D
