Is this the end of House? 

Wondered when people were gonna finally catch on to this... Hugh Laurie said in a very recent interview with Radio Times (I think...? I'll try find the link again...) that they only have him for 8 seasons and he doesn't see himself doing anything more than that. Not definite confirmation of a final season, but a pretty strong hint.

Obviously I am sad to think of the show ending...but I like the idea of them knowing before they even start filming next season, that it will be the end. I feel like TPTB have ideas for an endgame for each character, and now they will have time to wrap everything up the way they want to.

This is what he said: In an interview with Radio Times magazine, he said: "The end of that season, right now looks like the end of the show. Well, that's as far as they've got me for."

All he is saying is that right now it looks like Season 8 will be the last. I am sure the delay in the renewal negotiation and the HUGE drop in ratings is an indication of where they are at. Hugh is an incredibly intelligent and perseptive man, so he must have got the feeling this is the end, before we did.
Season 7 has not been the best to come out of the House Production Team. In fact IMO it is the worst yet. He knows that better than we do.

In any event they only have HIM contracted until the end of Season 8. But also I am sure he realises that realistically this is it. And he must have had a guts full by now. My guess is the man just wants to get his job done and get back home to London to his wife, children, friends and HIS life!

Better go when people still love it, than to wait till it's all drained and worthless.
