Silence of the Lambs - The most visceral fear comes from one's own mind, and this one is the king of the psychological thrillers. Hannibal is still the man.

Psycho - The most prominent representative of the genius of Hitchcock. Janet Leigh's shower scene WAS one of the most frightening scenes ever filmed for a movie.
The Ring - A ringing phone scared m,any for days after seeing this one.
Halloween (1978) - So scary it kicked off fewer than 8 sequels, not to mention numerous acknowledgements in other Hollywood productions.
The Hills Have Eyes (2006) - with the threat of nuclear disaster and its effects on humans largely forgotten, how successful would a remake featuring villains mutated by radioactive fallout play to today's generation of horror fans?
Carrie (1976) - Mixes telekinetic powers with our innate fear of being ridiculed to create a classic horror masterpiece.
BUT THINK ABOUT THIS!!.
Jaws (1975) - Forced a whole generation to stay out of the water. SERIOUSLY!

Well, something bit my big toe! (I still have a split in the toenail that won’t grow out)I swear, ALL 4 of my tough azz friends hit the sand like torpedoes!!! I didn’t see their hand or arms move once!! AND I kid you not! Because I yellped, everyone else within earshot quickly, but gracefully, hit the beachhead like marines!

The worst scary movie that I have seen was par far The Fog, Cloverfeild was pretty bad too. But the best is probably a four-way tie depending on wether toi like just plain creepy ou slashers, between House of a thousand Corpses, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Exorcist, and Poltergeist.
The Best: "The Unborn" was so scary, that I closed eyes many times :P For example first film " Jeepers Creepers", "Wolf Creek", "One Missed Call", "The Grudge" and many others.. The worst is "Eye", "Saw", "Wrong Turn"
this question is hard to answer. But one of the best would be Scream, Scream2, Scream3 Saw (all of the saw movies.), the exorcis, the bad seed, must I go on? (many more) Worst movies, Planet Terror, It, and a bunch more. But every scary movie I have ever seen was never scary to me. I live for theese movies. Gore. Get Ready To Scream.

"it" and "it 2" was horribal! Stevan King make's dome horror movies.
I like lots of horrors, it depends on whats your taste. Some of the best are the Nightmare On Elm rue lot, Dawn of the Dead for Zombies ou My Bloody Val is very good slash. But the worst horror i've seen has to go to Hannibal Rising, that movie totaly sucks, sure it tells a story but it really does suck!

when I think of scary films I think of 2 things: the ones that were hard for me to watch, and the ones that made me lose sleep (of course, some of them do both). on the first aspect, I think of films I saw when I was very young, such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead and It Lives Again, but also Blairwitch Project (I was really scared in the movie theater XD
but the one that I still think is really scary and STILL would make me lose sleep: The Exorcist. hands down.

Micah, a day-trader, and Katie, a student who claims that a ghostly entity has haunted her since her youth, are a young couple "engaged to be engaged". The worst scary movie i have ever seen is the grudge 1, 2, & 3. The grudge films sucked so badly. The best scary movie i have ever seen is between Halloween and nightmare on elm street.
The worst: Let The Right One In-it was utterly boring, the story was confusing and the characters were unrelatable. Oh, and did I mention? IT WASN'T SCARY! The best movie I've seen on the other hand is "Stephen King's The Mist"! It scared me to death! But it was the most intense, scary thrill ride I've ever seen!
The worst Scary movie I have seen recently was Paranormal Activity (I'm not even going to give it quotes, it was THAT BAD!!!!) But, over all the worst I've EVER seen would have to be a movie called "Mosquito." That movie was so bad it was HILARIOUS!!!
The best Horror movie I have ever seen would have to be "The Cottage," I know other people would disagree, but I loved it.
The worst was "Children of the Corn." It was recommended par a Blockbuster clerk. We had such high hopes at being scared, but instead we laughed from almost the beginning to the end. I laughed harder at this movie than at any actual comedies I've seen. "Outlander, we have your woman!!!" Too funny--so if toi need a laugh, watch this one.
