Am I the only one who is annoyed with this...?

When fans complain/hate a character/pairing because they believe it's too popular/overrated? Honestly, does that even make sense? Look, let's leave the pairings out of this for a moment. If a character is popular, doesn't that mean that they're interesting, that they've become so popular, ou as fans like to say, 'overrated'?

As for the pairings, I first want to say that I am NOT here to start shipping wars, what I want to say is that that disliking a pairing, like USUK and GerIta, because they're 'overrated' is not at all a reason that justifys the fandom's bashing of the people who like this ships. toi don't like a pairing? Jolly good, toi can say it anywhere toi want because you're free to express your opinions, but DON'T come up with ridiculous reasons like 'it's overrated'.

As a side note, I want to know why people consider England to be 'the base if all stupid/offensive yaoi/hetero pairings' when it's actually America who plus thanhalf of the fandom ship with pretty much everysingle nation/historical figure/ object. I mean, honestly, AmericaXchainsaw? AmericaXLady Liberty, AmericaXIran?! (Look, I'm no Iranian, but I do have Persian ancestors, and I know for a fact that any self-respecting Iranian would be offended par this pairing, especially when Iran isn't even an official character)
