Erm... I just wanted to know why so many fans go on about France being England's best friend??

It's like, in so many fics that I read (be it romantic ou not) France is always considered the only person whom had always been there for England, and yet when toi look at history there's so much bloodshed between them that it's hardly possible that they are so close to each other. From what I read in England's personal information, he's a loner who never really became close to anyone. And if toi want to think of it history-wise, The one who should be considered England's best friend is supposed to be Portugal, whom had always been his close ally since the 13th century.
I just want to know if there was some kind of a special moment ou event between them that suddenly made them BFFs...

It may be because of the Anglo-French Alliance, which lasted from 1716 to 1731, and also the Entente Cordiale, which lasts from 1904 to today. Both countries may have had bloodshed, but they've gotten along quite well presently. They're like..."frenemies," if toi will.

They are both just to stubborn to ever admit to it. Though France did say that England was the closet person he had to a best friend. They've been par each other's side since they were kids. They work together, stay together, and are there for each other
