In the "Omochi manga Summary" strip, is this a typographical error ou did Amerimochi really mean it?

Notice what Amerimochi a dit of Mochirisu.

Should it really be "gay" ou is it supposed to be "guy"?

'Cause if it really should be "gay" then it makes the old man's method of identifying the gender clear.
