Throughout the Harry Potter books, there are some variations between the Bloomsbury (British) and Scholastic (American) editions. Below the first section on "Philosopher's vs. Sorcerer's" is a section on other different terminologies used.

Philosopher's vs. Sorcerer's

When Scholastic was publishing Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in America, they decided to rename the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. They claimed that the American and British uses of the word philosopher were a bit different, so therefore sorcerer was a plus appropriate word. Any true Harry Potter fan, American...

1) Hermione's last name was going to be Puckle.
2) Hedwig was played par a male in the movies.
3) If a Muggle were to come across Hogwarts, all they would see was a sign that said, "Keep out, dangerous building."
4) Fred and George were born on April Fool's Day... That should explain their mischievous acts :)
5) Snape was partially based on a teacher JKR once had....

HOGWARTS STAFF
Headmaster Albus Dumbledore: His first name is from the Latin word alba, "white." His last name, according to Rowling interviews, is Old English for "bumblebee." In colour symbolism, white often stands for purity, so the headmaster's name suggests honour and a hard-working nature ("busy as a bee").
Professor Binns: A bin is a large storage container. A dustbin is British English for a garbage can. This boring professor could be described as a ghostly storage for information that many Hogwarts students view as rubbish.
Headmaster Armando Dippet: Armando is from the name Armand,...

If not little known, at least little remembered. ;) I've collected here eleven (in my opinion) of the most interesting and useful ones. Plus my commentaires on some of them.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

1. There is no such thing as a pureblood family. Every wizarding family has a muggle ou a few among them. Some just choose to traverser, croix them over in their family arbre and pretend they don't exist and instead claim themselves as purebloods.

^I can see Blacks and Malfoys doing that. But makes me wonder why were the Crouches noted as purebloods then, as evidently the father and son were not passionate about purity of blood....

To start I would like to say that I am not posting this to be mean ou start any fights. I'm posting this because a lot of people ask me why I don't like her ou simply assume it's only because I like Bellatrix, and I want to clear this up. Plus I'd rather just post a link to this article rather than explain it every time someone asks.

Anyways, the first and biggest problem I have with Molly is (yes the obvious one lol, I'll get it out of the way first) that she killed Bellatrix. I do respect her motives, her kid's life was on the line. But I still don't like it. I also don't like how she called...

An example of an object you could use.
A handy-dandy Wikihow article on how to make a horcrux, for all toi aspiring Dark witches and wizards out there!
Credit: wikihow.com

1. Become an extremely powerful witch ou wizard. This will take years of study and sacrifice which lie beyond the scope of a WikiHow article. As a general guide toi should not attempt to create a horcrux until toi can cast non-verbal killing curses.

2. Locate an object of extreme significance to you. An emotional attachment to the object will aid the process and make it easier on your body and soul.

3. Bathe in the Water of Sorrows and eat 1 cup of paste made from...

 Bellatrix Lestrange
Bellatrix Lestrange
I have been on the Harry Potter spot for a while now and I constantly find myself getting asked "why do toi like Bellatrix?" So I decided to type up this article. Thank toi lifeisgoodx3 for inspiring me to do so.

So why would some one like a person who killed Sirius, Dobby, Tonks, and tortured Hermione and the Longbottms? Well I actually have multiple reasons as to why I like her; Bellatrix stands for what she believes in, she's crazy and funny, pretty, unique, strong and confident, she has an interesting story behind her, I can relate to her, she has potential to be a good guy, and I have a...

Tom Marvalo Riddle / Voldemort:

- Voldemort's real name, Tom Marvalo Riddle, is an anagram for 'I am Lord Voldemort'.
- In the films Voldemort's wand's handle appears to be made of bone, even though the livres says nothing about this.
- J.K. Rowling has later revealed that the crouched human child-like form in Kings traverser, croix when Harry was talking to Dumbledor, was actually Voldemort.

So after lire Cursed Child I was beyond excited for this character and I thought I'd share why. That a dit there are probably gonna be spoilers in here.

First and foremost, right off the bat I figured I'd like her because Bellatrix is her mom. To be honest out of all of my favori characters I figured that Bella would be the least likely to have a baby but here she is lol. So she gets points just for being Bellatrix's daughter. xP Carry on her legacy well Delphi. :'D

Secondly I l’amour her name. My friend and I, in the last 24 hours have made so many jokes about Bellatrix going 'derp, this is...

Care for a Bat Bogey Hex? Anyone?
Care for a Bat Bogey Hex? Anyone?
Greetings Fellows! I'm Isabellagirl033 and I've written this article to clear the confusion that many of toi seem to make. I've seen and heard many people classifying Ginny Weasley as a Mary Sue character. Yikes!
Jk Rowling has made the character of Ginny Weasley a very complex one. She evolves from a shy, little girl to a fiery and outspoken redhead. The problem is that Ginny has so many positive characteristics that they overshadowed her flaws.

Ginny indeed has many flaws etc.
* In the Chamber of Secrets, Ron himself says that "Ginny never shuts up, normally" meaning that one of her flaws is...

I will miss Richard Griffiths very greatly. He was a fantastic actor and a great loss. He did an awesome job bringing Vernon Dursley to life the way he did.

Sometimes his true warmth peeked through, as in that one neat scene in the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone where he is talking about Sundays being a ‘fine day’ and asks why that is; Harry Melling’s Dudley shrugs his shoulders. Daniel’s Harry asks him if the reason was because there was no post on Sundays, and Richard momentarily dropped the Vernon persona and beamed warmly at him, replying with “Right toi are, Harry”...

As statistics show, the Harry Potter book-movie partnership and the merchandise which stems from it has seen unprecedented success. Success, which, many could argue, is unreplicatable The reason for this, in my opinion, is that no one has ever fully explored in enough detail the why of Harry Potter. Why does it, in comparison to étoile, star Wars (which I love), Indiana Jones, (which I've never seen,) and other blockbuster franchises, despite astounding success, has never quite so immersed itself in all facets of pop culture? The generation which grew up with the livres and films frequently make references...

In the beginning

The starting point for each of the house crests was the Hogwarts crest, which first appeared on the titre pages of the Harry Potter books, and represents all four Hogwarts houses. This original artwork and J.K. Rowling’s descriptions of the houses were used to inspire four unique house emblems for Pottermore.

The artists started par talking about the best way to include the natural elements of fire, earth, water and air into each house; what the best positions and expressions for the animaux would be; and the most effective way to include the house colours in the...

The breakfast was over, so there were very few students in Great Hall.

Hugo Weasley was sitting on Gryffindor table, tableau with a book in his lap. AGAIN.

But he was not alone. Marcus Mills, a first-year Slytherin was also there with his two cronies.

"Look who is here! What are toi doing here Weasley?," asked Mills in his normal taunting voice.

"Can't toi see, I'm reading.," replied Hugo. BAD MOVE.

RITA SKEETER’S INTERVIEW WITH VOLDEMORT

Here I am, in an isolated lit wing at St. Mungo’s . And for once, interviewing ( not quite the right way ) Rita skeeter who apparently isnt in the best of condition to reveal about the extraordinary interview with the “MAN WHO LET THE BOY LIVE” and the “EATEN par DEATH” crowd there . par hearing this we can easily guess why she has turned up at St.Mungo’s.

Anyways skeeter who – for the first time brilliantly found a way to penetrate into the after death world had successfully but unfortunately met them there in an interview.using a pensieve...
